A British commander General Isaac Brock too advantage of the american confession and he dwcided to battle them with his troops and the Native Americans forving the Americasn to surrender. General Brock captured 2000 american troops.

    The USS Constitution deafeted the British warship Guerrriere. Americans called the Constitution "Old Ironside" because British artillary fire bounced off the thick wood helm. To the Americans the USS Constitution was made of Iron.

    Wahington D.C was attacked and burned in August. The presidents wife, Dolley Madison grabed all of the important papers including the Portrait of George Washington before the Nations Captital was burned. Most American were shocked that the U.S army could not protect their captial.

    The ngight of September 13,Francis Scott Key watch the attack of Fort McHenry. At dawn Key saw the American flag stll flying over the fort. On the back of a old envelope Key wrote a poem that he called "The Star-Spangeld Banner" It told the story of his nights watch on Fort McHenry. This poem became popular in the 1930s then Congress made it become the Nations, national anethem.
