    Impressment of Sailors

    The impressment of sailors was something that the British did during its wars with France, in which they board American ships and seize them. They were taken so that the US couldn't trade with France as they were in the war. They also forced American sailors to join the US British navy. Angering the US lead to it declaring war on Britain.
  • Washington's Proclamation of Neutrality

    Washington's Proclamation of Neutrality was a declaration that the US was a neutral nation since there was war in Europe between Britain and France and the US didn't want to be forced to take sides. As the US was not in a good state economically to be in a war.
  • Jay Treaty

    Jay's Treaty was a treaty that the US had with Britain so they would stop seizing American ships but the treaty was ineffective and useless. As they didn't get their ships and people back from Britain. But it was effective in stopping a war between the two nations.

    Washington's Farewell Address was a warning that Washington had for the nation. the warning was that to be careful of political parties and to not be too involved in the international issue.

    The Embargo Act was an act that put a restriction and made it so the US couldn't trade with Britain or France unless they stopped seizing the American ships but both nations had the colonies that they could trade with and didn't care that the US stopped trading with them but it just ended with it hurting the American economy more.

    The Chesapeake Leopard Affair was an engagement between the American frigate USS Chesapeake and British fourth-rate- HMS Leopard as the Leopard attack and boarded the frigate. Caused a tear in the US and Britain's relationship and a reason that led to the War of 1812. As they were both warships.

    Tecumseh was a Native American Chief who was against the expansion of the US since he didn't want Americans to keep taking and moving into the native's land. Which made him want to unite with Britain to stop the expansion.

    War of 1812 Begins due to the US being fed up with the seizing of American ships by Britain and wanted the restriction of trade to end. So they can focus on their expansion to the west. The effect of this war was that the US gained international respect.

    The War Hawks were a group of politicians from the South and West and wanted to go to war as they disagree with the US wanting to stay neutral. As they wanted to invade Canada and push Spain out of Florida.
  • Tecumseh's Death

    Tecumseh's Death caused the resistance of the Native Americans against the US expansion. Which lead to the Native Americans getting pushed back further west, starting the Western Expansion.

    The Hartford Convention was a secret meeting between Federalists that was against James Madison's presidency. They were Federalist that wanted a good relationship, trade, and peace with Britain. As declared that they would succeed from the US and become their own nation if the US didn't back up from the war.

    The Treaty of Ghent was the treaty that ended the War of 1812 and the terms of the treaty were that Britain wouldn't go for American territory. It was caused due to the British taking major losses. Neither did the US or Britain have anything to gain and wanted to focus on trade and Napoleon.
  • Battle of New Orleans

    The Battle of New Orleans was a battle that was led by Andrew Jackson and it was a major victory for the US since they destroyed a big part of British forces. This major victory made the hopes of the US troops go up. Which makes Jackson a household hero.
