The US declared war on Britain, because of multiple disputes around the impressment of our soldiers. They disputed over the Northwest territory.

The captain for the Guerriere was looking to battle, even though his ship had less guns, and crewmembers. Marksmen from the tops of the masts (crow’s nests) fired at exposed opponents with a very deadly effect. As the ships separated the mast of the Guerriere collapsed ruining the ship.

The Americans had blockaded the British squad. Yet the American supplies were running low. The soldiers were cut to half-rations. After lots of canon fire and such, the British surrendered. After the battle, the leader of the American fleet; Oliver Hazard Perry wrote the most-quoted phrase of war: “We have met the enemy and they are ours”.

General William Henry Harrison led an army of 3,500 men against 700 British soldiers, and 1,000 Indians. After retreating from The Battle of Lake Erie, the Indians decided to make a stand at Moraviantown. The Americans won, the British soldiers either fled or surrendered, and the Indians fought with all their might, but then lost their heart after the death of Tecumseh their leader.

A massacre which had happened, due to an onslaught, by the British which was later heard by Andrew Jackson. He decided that he would gather a militia. He gathered 3,000 men together and fought against the British. His men then went to war, and nearly wiped out the entire opposing force. His force killed more than 550, and only took back 49.

Fort Henry, an American stopping place, was bombarded by British soldiers. The attack continued for at least 25 hours, as the British attacked from their boats off the coast of Baltimore. The defenders held firm through the many casualties the defended successfully.

Multiple battles happened in Louisiana amongst many different races, basically both countries needed to go all out to win. The Americans used only their finest soldiers of any race or color.

26 delegates met to discuss the war, and what we would do as a country. We withdrew our recommendations with the French, after being ridiculed by them. We talked about our relationships with the other countries, and what they might be doing to us. Basically discussing usual politics.

It ended the war between America and Britain. Members such as: Albert Gallatin, Henry Clay, John Quincy Adams, and John Holmes signed the treaty. With signing them we lost both of our primary goals: we did not expand our territory over Canada, and we did not stop the forcible pirating of the US ships.
