    Western Europe/ This is the first "gloabal War," being fought on several continents. This allowed the British aquisiton of territory in India which allowed them to become a dominant power in Europe. It also put huge tax strains onto the American colonies and eventually lead to the desire to be free from Britain which resulted in the revolutionary war.
  • American Revolution/P

    American Revolution/P
    Was the first among the independence movements against Great Britain. This influenced many other countries to rebel against the British and gain their own independence.
  • Wealth of Nations published

    This book conveyed the new economic and political processes that were starting to be used by the Europeans. It influenced the many nations who based themselves on this book.
  • Interchangable Parts/I

    Firearms with interchangable parts totally changed how warfare was fought. They could be mass produced to where they were in a limitless supply, this allowed many conflicts to occur where a victor came out without a scratch.
  • Steam Engines on Ships/I

    This allowed trade of large quanties of items. These allowed long distance trade that was extremely efficient. This invention was the main reason as to why Britian was able to assert it's economic prowess over the other European nations.
  • National Assembly Formed/S

    This event was significant due to it's effect on France. It allowed the people to have an effect on the goverment, a direct result of this is the adoption of a new constitution.
  • Macartney Mission/E

    East Asia/ This attempt to get China to open up trade leads to the further isolation of China which allowed Great Britain to become strong and eventually conquer China as a result to this trade ban. It also promoted illigal items to be shipped in like opium, which later became a major influence in China at the time.
  • Louisiana Purchase

    This purchase of land from France had numerous effects on the influence the U.S. had over the world. This pushed closer to the Mexican which would eventually lead to the conflict over who controlled the land. This large land accumilated with resources and the military might U.S. possessed lead it to become the superpower that it is today.
  • Haitian Revolution/S

    This event is significant due to the fact that it was the first successful revolution in Latin America. It promoted rebellion in other Latin American nations, as it showed them that they could be independent.
  • Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade Abolished/E

    West Africa/ This was a push from Enlightenment ideas. It futher influence nations that still had legalized slavery to move away from it. It also promoted the use of indentured servants from India to be used as an alternative.
  • Rebellion lead by Father Hildago/R

    Latin America/ Fought for the rights of Amerindians/Lower classes. This illustrated the Elightenment ideas that were coming in from Europe. It was also a precursor to the Mexican Revolution and influenced it greatly to where it could actually occur.
  • Congress of Vienna

    This restored Europe back to the way it was prior to the French Revolution. The peace resulting from this lasted until World War I
  • Opium Wars/E

    This had a huge effect over the Chinese. It basically is what lead up to them being militarily decimated by the British. It left China in a state of extreme instability.
  • HMS Nemisis/I

    This Iron Clad war machine marked the start of a new type of warfare. The British had a huge advantage over any nation that opposed. This allowed the victory of the Opium Wars with almost not opposition.
  • Taiping Rebellion/R

    Lead by "Jesus's little brother." This is significant because it was one of the deadliest conflicts in history. This forced the Qing to make reforms.
  • David Livingston Missionary Trip/R

    Sub-Saharan Africa/ Set up missionary goals for the Africans. This led to the establishment of missionary schools as well as the thought process of "White Man's Burden."
  • Crimean War

    As a result of this war Russian Czars began to look at their military and economy which led Russia to become a super power the next century.
  • Sepoy Rebellion

    Sepoy Rebellion
    South Asia/ This is significant because it resulted in the the British political takeover of India.
  • Emancipation of Serfs/S

    Eastern Europe/ This event allowed people to move to cities instead of living on manors. These people soon became the new urban workforce in Russia's push to industrialize.
  • Meji Restoration

    This restoration is significant because it resulted in the industrialization of Japan and it's inclusion into the club of Imperializing powers.
  • Ottoman Constitution/P

    The first modern outside of Europe, illustrating the effects that Enlightenment ideas had over areas that had hardly any European influences other than political ones.
  • Berlin Conference

    This left Africa in a highly unstable state due to the fact that different ethnic groups were forced in bounderies that suited Europeans.
  • Eiffel Tower/A

    Eiffel Tower/A
    The building of this monument was basically the French flexing their industrial power. This showed the competition between the European nations and how one was always trying to best the others
  • "The White Man's Burden"/A

    This showed the new outlook on less civilized peoples that the Europeans encountered. This belief was used to justify genocide and promote the spread of Christianity which further pushed Africans away toward Islam.
  • Boxer Rebellion

    This resulted in a huge amount of debt to the foreign powers present in China and also lead to the eventual overthow by Chinese nationalists
