  • Birth

    Birth
I was born at New York Presbyterian at 26 weeks, so I was born prematurely. Because of this I had a lot of health issues so I had to be intubated for 24 hours, learn how to breathe on my own, I had to have heart medication, blood transfusion, underdeveloped lungs, I also had retinopathy prematurity with plus disease. However I luckily had no brain bleeds. Because of how early I was born I had to have early intervention for 3 years and stay in the hospital for 3 months after I was born.
  • Moving to Brewster

    Moving to Brewster
My family moved from the Bronx to Brewster when I was 3, I don't remember moving but I remember when we first started living here. My house and yard has changed a lot since we moved in and I remember when the hurricane knocked down a pine tree onto our pear tree, a tragic loss. I also remember when me and Siobhan got bunk beds and when we got our own rooms. I am so happy we moved here because it is where I met all of my friends and created a lot of great memories with my family.
  • Getting our first dog

    Getting our first dog
We got our first dog, Maggie when I was little and she very quickly became such a big part of my family. She was always so hyper and loud but that is what we love about her, even though she barked at anything and everything. Growing up with Maggie was the best because there was always someone to play with or chase around the yard. Getting her was one of the best moments of my life, i was so excited to have a dog even though I barely knew what was going on until we drove home with her.
  • Starting Field Hockey

    Starting Field Hockey
I started to play field hockey in 2015, and I didn't think I would continue playing as long as I have but I am so happy that I did. Playing field hockey lets me feel like I'm part of a team, it a great feeling to know someone has got your back. Although I am not the best player, scoring a goal is one of the best feelings and I feel like I am my happiest during the fall season. When I first started I didn't see myself continuing, I thought I would quit but i'm so glad I didn't because I love it
  • Girl Scout Silver Award

    Girl Scout Silver Award
My Girl Scout Silver Award was a big accomplishment for me because of how much work and effort our troop put into it. We created bags full of supplies for parents who needed to stay at the hospital overnight with a child or loved one and couldn't go home. This award really brought our troop closer together, I love hanging out with them and having meetings. We all have so much fun doing craft fairs and selling girl scout cookies, I am so happy to call my troop my friends as well.
  • Kidney Stone

    Kidney Stone
The day I got a kidney stone was very chaotic. It was a 3 hour delay, I had to miss school to go to the Urgent Care. I spent 4 hours there in pain, we eventually went to the hospital where I got a CAT scan and was told I have a kidney stone, which I pretty much already knew. I finally got home around 7, ever since then i've gone to doctor's appointments to check on how I am. This experience was a mess and made me more cautious about my health, so now I am making sure to take care of myself
  • Grandma

    Grandma
We lost my grandma 2 years ago, she was such an important part of my life and ever since her passing feel like nothing has been the same. Her passing was a huge shock since we had just visited her and my grandpa a couple weeks before in Florida and it seemed like she was doing so much better. Before they moved they visited us all of the time, and after they moved we made sure to visit as much as possible. I miss her all the time, it not the same visiting without her.
  • Losing Maggie

    Losing Maggie
Last year we had to say goodbye to Maggie, she was 12 and had degenerative myelopathy for about a year. We had to say goodbye to her once she couldn't walk anymore. This experience was very painful for me because I didn't know what it was like to live without her, she was such a big part of my life for 12 years. We placed down rugs all over our house in order to help her walk, after she was gone it was difficult to see so many rugs and weird to see the house without them and without her.
  • Getting Abaigh

    Getting Abaigh
Around a month after losing Maggie, my mom came across a dog in Virginia online and asked the owner about her. It turns how that Maggie was the puppy's aunt and my mom knew we had to get her. Me and Siobhan skipped school that day to drive down and pick up the puppy. I am so happy we got her because she is the greatest and has helped my family deal with the loss of Maggie. We fought about what to name her at first, but we decided to go with Abby, however my mom decided to spell it Abaigh.
  • Getting my First Job

    Getting my First Job
Last summer I got my first job at North Salem Day Camp, at first I thought I wouldn't like it, the days were long and I was worried I would have a hard time becoming friends with the kids. However as the summer went on I started to really like working there, the other counselors in my group were so nice and the kids were super fun to work with. It was fun to get to know new people, both campers and counselors, and I am disappointed that is has been cancelled this year because it was so fun.
  • Varsity Field Hockey

    Varsity Field Hockey
This past field hockey season I got onto varsity, once the season started I realized how different it is from JV, mostly team-wise. Playing on varsity this year has been my favorite season by far, it was such a great team experience and I loved it. The team this year was so encouraging of each other and we made it into the 2nd round of sectionals. Although there were some rough practices and games we ended the season so well and I can't wait for next season to start
  • Going to the Met

    Going to the Met
Ever I got my first job my life has been a lot easier and better, especially since I now hang out with my friends more and more often. Usually we would just hang out and watch movies however in February we all decided to go into the city and visit the Met. That day was super fun, especially since we had a lot of freedom to walk around and ride the train together. While we were there I was able to learn new things about my friends as well, which is why I would love to go back sometime
