Birth
After 25 years, out came child number one. Mom was in labor for more than 24 hours, walking around the city with no destination in mind besides the hospital. I was already 2 weeks late and she was sick of it. I was born on August 24th, a Friday afternoon at 2:55 pm in Jacobi Hospital located in the Bronx. Weighing at 7 pounds and 11 ounces and 19 and a half inches. Everyone was expecting a boy to pop out but instead out came Jessica. Which in the long run turned out to be mom's best accident. -
Cinderella Story
My favorite Halloween. I was 3 years old, still living in the Bronx with my mom. Her best friend and I went trick or treating and I of course dressed up as my favorite princess, Cinderella. We were on to our next house to get candy when I had to climb some steps. As I was going up, my shoe accidentally came off and fell down the stairs. I'm turning around to go and grab it when this cute little boy around my age in a pirate costume got it for me and even put it back on! I'll never forget that. -
1st trip with new fam
It was the summer before kindergarten and my family and I went to Albania and Kosovo. It was a great time to bond with my new dad and brother but also to see my uncles and grandparents for the first time! We ended up going around my birthday and just so it happens I share my birthday with my uncle, and he also got married on that day! I remember running back and forth between my uncle Julian's house and grandparents house since they lived so close to each other. -
Sister!!
I was in 2nd grade, 7 years old waiting patiently for my baby sister to be born. It was a Sunday night and I was at home dead asleep. My mom's best friend and my grandma came into my room and told me that Gabriela was born!! I got so happy that I could not go back to sleep. I sadly had to go to school the next day but I was very excited to tell Ms. Gorey and my classmates that I now had a sister! My mom was overly happy because she never had a sister so she was glad that I would have one. -
Embarrassing!!
The most embarrassing thing happened to me when I was just 8 years old. I was in gym, sitting in our squads right after warm-ups. I was wearing a long sleeve shirt & had a tank top underneath. I sat on my long sleeve shirt so it wouldn't have the chance to roll up my tank top underneath. I clearly failed because when I finished taking my long sleeve shirt off I felt a cold breeze and my classmates laughing. I quickly covered my top & went to the bathroom so I could put my shirt back on. -
Fearful
In 2011 when I went to Albania with just my mom and sister we had the time of our lives. While enjoying our time with family, we visited Saint Anthony's Church in the city of Lac. It was a stunning Church, the view was gorgeous, overlooking the city from up above. There was this underground part to it where it was said that Saint Anthony had hid from people who were trying to take him. It was a dark cave and me being only 10 years old, was very scared to be there. You could see where he had hid. -
Kas passed away
My worst nightmare happened. My favorite cousin in the world was killed just 2 days after his dad's birthday. My cousin Kas was in NYC driving on his motorcycle with his friend Juan when he came to a red light. When the lights turned green he tried driving forward but the bike was not moving. A car came from behind hit him and sped off. At this point Kas had flew out into the middle of the road where then a truck driver drove over him. He was pronounced dead on the scene, just at 22 years old. -
Baby bro!
Literally the best day of my entire life. After 3 years of constantly asking my parents to have a baby boy (or even adopt one) my wish finally came true. David was born on New Year's Eve, making him just as special. It was also my parent's 10th year anniversary. I wasn't able to be at the hospital when he was born because I had to watch over Gabi, but I had my phone turned on high to wake up to my dad's call. Got a call at 4:31am and I could hear David crying in the back. I was filled with joy. -
Dog died
It was a rainy day in March my sophomore year when my dog Jackie died. She had been sick for a while and there was nothing we could do to make her feel better. Patrik woke up that morning and went to go give her some water and food before school and he found her just laying down, not moving, outside her dog house. It was most hard on him out of all my family members because he was very close to her. He would feed her everyday and just hang out with her since she was way too big to come inside. -
College Visit!
VERY exciting moment to visit my first college. College of Mount Saint Vincent was recommended to me by my cousin who went there for nursing, which initially is what I wanted to do. The campus was absolutely stunning, overlooking the Hudson River. The class sizes are not big at all so makes it 100% easier to have a good relationship with my teachers. They have great science programs which is amazing for anyone looking to go into pre-med or anything in that field. I fell in love with this campus. -
Failure
On August 10th, my two best friends & I decided to go on a hike by my house. We were supposed to wake up early to go see the sunrise but we stayed up late the night before so that didn't work out. We get there, and go on a random trail. We knew what we wanted to see but did not know how to get there. So when we heard the waterfall, we ran to it and from there went off trail. We then got back on some different trail trying to find the mountain top but failed miserably. Overall though, it was fun. -
Good Job Kevin!
It was my sweet 16 and I had invited over most of my friends, including Kevin. When he showed up we stayed on my deck starting to eat but as soon as he saw my in-ground pool he flipped out. He put his food down and & towards the pool. He took off his shirt & shoes and without hesitation, jumped in, off the diving board. Everyone was laughing at him considering how excited and crazy he got. After a while of him just chilling in the pool he noticed that he had his phone in his pocket. He broke it.
