I was born in Maracaibo, Venezuela at 7;00 pm. I am the youngest of two, to parents Pablo and Edith Salas. Here I am with my great-grandparents

At three years old, my family moved from Maracaibo to an apartment in Houston, due to the corruption in Venezuela. This was extremely difficult for my family because we did not speak very much English, and we were not accustomed to the American customs. Here I am enjoying the pool with my mom at the apartment complex.

In June 2002, we finally moved into our new house, which is the house I still live in today. At four years old it was still difficult for me to make friends because I did not speak English very well. Here I am with a turtle in the backyard of our new house, who I considered to be my friend.

In 2005 I started Kindergarten at Hancock Elementary. I slowly began making friends. In this picture I am dressed as a cowgirl brecause we were square dancing.

The summer before 3rd grade, my family went on vacation to Hawaii. It was this year that we began the tradition of going on a big trip every summer. Because of these trips I feel that I am more cultured and aware of what is going on in the world. Here I am in mid cartwheel on the shores of Maui.
-
In 2007 my family and I took a trip to Seattle, and various places in Oregon. There we took a four day camping and white water rafing adventure where I began to appreciate nature. In this picture I am playing one of the many campfire games I learned with friends.
-
I had the chance to visit my family in Maracaibo in 2008. Before arriving there we spent a week on the island of Aruba, enjoying the carribean. This trip is very special to me because it is all I know about what my native country is like. Since I moved to the US at such a young age, I don't remember much from those years. This trip is all I have to live by. In the photo we are at my aunt's wedding.

Before I began middle school, my family spent a whole in Europe. We visited various cities in France, Italy, and Spain. My parents are very adventurous and do not like to take tours. Because of this, I have learned to figure things out with the resources that I have. In the picture we are at the Trevi Fountain in Rome.

My brother graduating high school was a huge change for me. I was never used to being alone so I felt very lonely after he left. The same year, my great grandama passed away, as well as my dog Bongo. It was short after this that I began to show symptoms of depression.
-
In between my 7th and 8th grade year I completely changed from being very social to very shy and introverted. It was at this time that I began to draw away from other people and spend more time alone. I devoted my time to the arts. The photo is one I took of myself since I was very interested in photography. I was also very involved in music, and I ranked first of all (about 200) clarinets in the entire region.
-
During my sophomore year, I began to really focus on my grades and decide what kind of person I wanted to be. In this process I also had to let go of certain "friends" and strengthen bonds with others. In the picture is me and my boyfriend, Ben, who I began to date two years ago.

This past summer I went through double jaw surgery. It was the most difficult thing I have ever done, both physically and mentally. Through this experience I see myself and others in a whole new perspective. In the photo I am being visited by a hospital dog during recovery.

I had a hard time transitioning into high school from middle school. Thanks to band, I was able to make a lot of friends and be involved in an organization.
-
Next semester I will graduate Summa Cum Laude from Cy-Creek. I will then begin studying Speech Therapy at the University of Houston.
-
I hope to graduate from the University of Houston with honors.
-
After graduation I will begin to work as a speech therapist somewhere other than Texas. I plan on working with mostly kids.
-
I will get married at around 26 years old. I will begin to live my life with my new husband.
-
I will have my first child at age 29, with my husband. We will start our family in Colorado, most likely in the suburbs.
-
At age 32 I will miss playing music so I will start a local band with my friends. I will still be working as a speech therapist, but will do this for fun on the side.
-
At 34 years old I will become pregnant with my second child.
-
-
As my kids grow older I will make sure that they will have the opportunity to travel the world just like I did. I hope that this will allow them to see the world in a new perspective.
-
My grandparents will pass away this year. Since they take such care of their body and technology will be very advanced, they will live to be in their early 90's. This will have a great impact on my life, being that they have always been there for me.
-
At age 47, I will win the Speech Therapist of the Year award and be invited to do some research with some of the top Speech Therapists around the world.
-
At 49 years old, my son will graduate from high school and I will feel like an old woman. Regardless, I will be very proud of all of his accomplishments.
-
My second child will graduate and go off to college. I will be left alone with my husband in our giant house.
-
-
I will be very emotional that my kids will be gone and I will be going through menopause, therefore I will adopt a bunch of dogs to help compensate.
-
After 40 years of working, I will happily retire and get to spend time with my husband, dogs, and grandchildren.
-
As they reach their late 90's, my parents will pass away and I will be devastated, but ready to let them go.
-
With our children leading their own lives and my parents gone, I will have the opportunity to travel the world with my husband.
-
I will get very bored after I am to fragile to be traveling a lot. I will take many classes at local centers like finger aerobics.
-
As a 79 year old, I will try to learn new hobbies in order to keep myself busy, aside from spoiling my grandchildren.
-
At 87 years old, I will meet my first great grandchild.
-
After my 93rd birthday I will die peacefully, probably singing, in my house. I will have lived a long and eventful life.
