Jacquard Loom

1800 BCE

J.M Jacquard was a silk weaver that invented the Jacquard loom. It was the first machine to punch in and do automatic tasks.

The Cotton Gin

1793

The Cotton Gin was invented in 1793 by Eli Whitney. The Cotton Gin was used to pick the seeds out of the cotton in other ways it means that the cotton gin cleaned the wool.

Steam Locomotive

1802

Richard Trevithick patented a high pressure engine.

The Steamboat

1807

The steamboat was invented in 1807 and the first ever steamboat to work which was called the ´Clermont´; it was invented by Robert Fulton.Steamboats provide transportation along the Mississippi river.

Arc Lamp

1809

Humphry Davy invented the arc lamp, which is the first electric light.

First Photograph

1814

Joseph Nicéphore Niépce took the first ever photograph in 1814. The processes takes eight hours. The importance to the first ever photograph is that we can take pictures; its like the camera on your phone or camera.

The Typographer

W.A. Burt invents the typographer, the precursor to the typewriter.

Mechanical Reaper

1831

Mechanical Reapers were made in the early 1800s to help farmers harvest grain.

The first Revolver

1836

Samuel Colt invented the first revolver in 1836, which leads to more guns like that in the future.

The sewing machine

1845

Elias Howe invented the sewing machine , which in modern day makes clothes.
