Tiff’s Tech Timeline

  • I Can Read Now: Computer

    I Can Read Now: Computer
By the time I was three years of age, I was able to use our family computer that sat in the dining room. I was already reading at that age and continuing to advanced my literary skills with educational CD-ROM games like Crayola Rock, Reading Rabbit, and The Bernstein Bears. However, as I got older, my favorite games became franchises like RollerCoaster Tycoon and Carmen Sandiego. Image: Creative Commons
  • Game On: PlayStation 1

    Game On: PlayStation 1
On Christmas, my parents gifted me my on personal tv for my bedroom. To go along with it, they bought me a PS1. It was the newest console at the time. However, my brother wanted my Christmas present and offered to trade me his console with all his games for mine. Being only 5 and him 11, I thought it was a fair trade. Ironically, my parents saw how much I loved gaming that when my birthday rolled around two months later, they bought me another PS1, and that has continued my love for gaming.
  • LimeWire is bad: iPod Nano

    LimeWire is bad: iPod Nano
Getting an iPod Nano was one of the biggest tech things to happen to me. It taught me about things like torrents and viruses because at that time, we all got our music from LimeWire (lol). All jokes aside, I loved being able to download and listen to all kinds of music, and this really allowed me to become the music lover I am today. Image: Creative Commons
  • Social Butterfly: MySpace

    Social Butterfly: MySpace
MySpace was the first social media account I had. It was a place where I could rank my best friends, listen to music, and unbeknownst to me, learn to code a little. I remember spending hours decorating my page. I still use social media apps like FB, IG, Snapchat, etc. but MySpace was special…I miss the nostalgia of it. Image: Creative Commons
  • College Life: First CIEC Class

    College Life: First CIEC Class
I took my first educational tech class in the Spring my first year at Marshall. Harold Blanco was my professor. He really made an impact on my learning at Marshall and my life in general. I learned how to incorporate many different technology based items into the classroom. Podcasts, virtual sims, social media are just to name a few. Overall, it was a great experience and has helped me to incorporate technology into my classroom as a teacher nowadays.
  • Pandemic: Virtual Teaching

    Pandemic: Virtual Teaching
In March 2020, the world shut down due to Covid-19. My school started pushing out online lessons shortly after. Before the end of the school year, I started using Zoom to hold my own classes. I was very inexperienced at teaching online, yet I did my best. Though following school year, I taught the majority of my classes on Zoom. I felt that I was becoming more familiar with teaching online and enjoyed the challenge. We, however, resumed in person class in 2021 and have remained in person since.
