    On Our Way
    My parents, my little sisters, and I had left my house to go to my first cheer competition. I was excited and determined to win.
    This is like when Pheonix had just left her house and she begins talking to herself at the beginning of her journey telling things not to get in her way. She was determined to get to town just like I was determined to win.

  • Lipstick

    Lipstick
    On our way to the competition, I was putting on my makeup. My dad hit a bump in the road and i dropped my lipstick and it got on my skirt. I was very upset and my mom gave me a napkin and it came off.
    This is like when the bush catches Phoenix's dress. She doesn't let her dress get ruined, just as I didn't let my uniform get ruined.

  • Speeding

    Speeding
    It was around 3:00 and we were almost to the competition. We were running a little behind, so my dad was speeding. We heard sirens and a cop pulled my dad over and gave him a ticket.
    This is like when Pheonix had to get through the barbed wire fense. She had to slowly get through is so that she would not have any consequences. This is what my dad should have been doing, going slow and remaining careful.

  • Warm-Ups

    Warm-Ups
    We finally made it to the competition. My family went and sat in the arena and I went with my team. My stunt group began to warm-up stunts. While warming up, my flyer began to fall and I quickly ran to catch her.
    This is like when Phoenix falls in the ditch and the man helps her up. Since my flyer was not injured, and i helped her, we could continue on our journey to win the competition.

  • Time to Compete

    Time to Compete
    We got to the floor ready to compete and gave it our all. We did our routine perfect even with the struggles along the way.
    This is like how Phoenix knows to stop at the door to get what she came for. She was meant to be there, just as we were meant to compete. We did our routine like we knew and went for the win.

  • The Win!

    The Win!
    After competing and giving it our all, we won the competition!
    This is like when Phoenix finally gets the medicine she had been working so hard to get. We had worked hard all season to get the win we deserved.
