British attack USS Chesapeake
On June 22 1807 the USS Chesapeake was attacked by the British ship Leopard. This attack left 21 American soldiers dead and 4 were impressed. -
The Embargo Act
An embargo was placed on Great Britan and the French by president Jefferson. This made it so the U.S could no longer trade with either territory. -
The Battle of Tippecanoe
William Henry Harrison led the American militia to a victory over Tecumseh and his native troops in the battle of Tippecanoe. -

War against Great Britan is officially declared by president James Madison. -

During the battle of Lake Erie the British Royal Navy suffer a loss against the American navy led by Captain Oliver Hazard Perry. -

On December 1 Andrew Jackson reaches New orleans. On December 22 British arrive in Villere plantation. Andrew Jackson performs a sneak attack at night on the British, It ended in a draw. -

Treaty of Ghent
The Treaty of Ghent was signed on December 24, 1814 and it was the document ending the war of 1812. However it did not mention anything about the 2 main reasons for the war, U.S vessal rights, and sailors being impressed. It took almost 2 months for British soldiers to hear about this. -
The Battle of New Orleans
Since the British were not yet notified about the Treaty of Ghent, they attacked the Americans in what was the last major battle of the war of 1812. Andrew Jackson became a miliray hero when he and 4,500 American troops defeated 7,500 British troops in only 30 minutes. This stopped the British plan of attacking New Orleans.
