The top social events spanning between 3000 BCE - 1500 CE

  • Period: 1200 BCE to 600 BCE

    The Bronze and Iron age

The Bronze and Iron age laid the foundations down for a truly impactful future. The discovery of Bronze and Iron itself allowed for almost every society in the world to create an infinite amount of tools and weapons that could be used for almost about anything. This also made wars completely different (mostly during the Iron age) as Iron tools, weapons and armor had the capabilities to completely turn the tide of battle. The Bronze and Iron age had an immense impact on the environment.
  • Period: 510 BCE to 323 BCE

    The Classical Age of Greece

In my opinion, the Classical Age of Greece provides a lot of information when it comes to social understanding, even in today's era. This is mainly due to the fact of the most significant Greek philosophers of all time: Socrates, Plato and Aristotle. The three of them both provided the world as we know it with so much information about ourselves that we wouldn't of known otherwise.
  • 490 BCE

    The Persian War

    The Persian War
The Persian war was one of the most famous conflict in ancient history to this date. It's remembered because the underdog (being Greece) won an all out war against the huge empire of Persia. This outcome is believed to of happened because of Persia's belief of having anyone as a soldier, regardless of skill. So of course Persia had the bigger army, but they were not as skillful as the Greeks in battle. It's believed that one Greek solider roughly took out 33 Persian soldiers.
  • 476 BCE

    The Fall of Rome

    The Fall of Rome
The Fall of Rome is one of the most iconic events in ancient history. We will never know the absolute truth as to why the Roman Empire fell, but there are multiple answers that have been given. Things like "Rome grew corrupt and weak over time" and "Rome was infiltrated by barbarian cultures" and others. Due to Rome's fall, hundreds of thousands, if not millions of people's lives were changed. In conclusion, the Fall of Rome socially had an incredible impact on people.
  • 332 BCE

    Alexander the Great

    Alexander the Great
Alexander the Great is one of the most well known historical figures known to man. He was a military genius and an incredible warrior. He would lead his army into battle despite being wounded on multiple occasions. He was worshiped as a god by many people. His greedy mindset though turned out to be the better of him in the end, which was the general cause of his death. In conclusion, Alexander the Great truly earned his title of "great" and was an incredible social figure in ancient history.
  • 70 BCE

    Julius Caesar

    Julius Caesar
Julius Caesar was another incredible historical figure that is extremely well known today. He was a great general but a terrible friend. It's known to be that he was loyal to almost no one and used people for his own gain. He won countless battles that laid down the foundations for the futuristic Roman Empire compared to the Roman Republic during his time period. Ultimately, Julius is well known for being a master tactician, that laid down the building blocks for the future of Rome.
  • Period: 1095 to 1492

    The Crusades

The Crusades were a series of invasions of the Middle East by Europeans in the name of Christianity. They continued for an extremely long time (centuries). The Crusades serve as an iconic period in time as it shows the transition between two different economies (barter based to dynamic commercial.) It serves as an extremely important historic time period as it's the first "official" Christian holy war in all of history. The Crusades were in my opinion, an important social piece of history.
  • Period: 1300 to 1500

    The Renaissance

The Renaissance was a period of time where innovation in culture and art spread across various parts of Europe. This is where the names Michelangelo, Leonardo Da Vinci and Donatello all come from. Italian culture was essentially spread across most countries in Europe which in turn provided a sense of understanding between nations due to ideas and beliefs being portrayed through culture and art. In my opinion, this was on of, if not the most important social event in history.
  • Period: 1337 to 1453

    The Hundred Years War

The Black Death happened near the start of the conflict between England and France, which we know of as the Hundred Years War. This conflict was made up of shorter wars and a series of battles rather than one big war. The main problem between the two countries was that they both had English and French blood between them as they were both descendants of William the Conqueror, therefore they both believed they were entitled to specific parts of land. This was an important social event in history.

    The Black Death

    The Black Death
The Black Death as we know today, was the most deadliest epidemic known to man. It started in the early medieval period and continued through to the early modern days. It's unknown where it truly arose from, but it's believed to have began in the Mongol khanates and spread west. It hit Europe so hard due to poor harvests and lack of practical knowledge when it came to extreme plagues. People's immune systems were weak if they didn't die of starvation.
