in this esction, mack and the police spend days trying to find missy. they found out that the person who took her is an experienced kidnapper that always leaves a ladybg pin with the dots being the number ogf girls he took. the police tell mack that none of the girls was ever found and they have never been able to catch him. him and his wife tried to find away to deal with it all, but "the great sadness" as he calls it, takes over mack.he feels his relationship with god drifting but ignores it. -

mack gets the note from "papa" and keeps coming back to it. he decides that he needs to meet this person at the shack to see what it is all about. he gets nan and the kids out of the house for the weekend and borrows his friends car. he goes even though his freind advised him not too. when he gets there he is very anxious. he has a meltdown while being there but ends up meeting three people that claim to be god. its jesus, papa, and sarayu. they are all different parts of god. -

in this section, mack mack talks to sarayu and about how he shoudnt believe that he has to do things to get god to love him. he has the freedom to do anything and god will love him either way. then sarayu took mack to a festival of friends where he got to see the true colors of people and finally forgave his dad for what he had done to him.the next morning, papa took him out on a hike. mack finally realized that he did trust god. -

papa told him that he needed to forgive the man that killed his daughter. once he finally did, papa took him where missys body was. after the weekend, mack decided to go back home and know god would always be with him. on his way back he got in a car accident. he was out for a couple of days but told his wife everything when he woke up. she believed him and then had to tell the cops where missys body was. finding her body helped catch the guy and he went to jail. -
