    During a Dr. Gaul test, Coriolanus and his friend and fellow mentor Clemensia are asked to put their hands into a tank full of neon snakes. Snow comes out unharmed, but Clemensia has a dozen of the snakes bite into her flesh.

    Coriolanus visits Lucy Gray again and finds out that rats are trying to bite her and Jessup. He decides he needs to help her.

    Snow is asked to sing at Arachne Crane's funeral. After that, he goes to visit Lucy Gray and gives her food. They chat for a bit, then some bombs go off.

    Snow gets visited by Clemensia, who shows Snow a major patch of skin that was coloured just like the snakes.

    Lucy Gray wins the hearts of the Capitol audience by singing another beautiful song, this time at the pre-Hunger Games tribute interviews.

    Coriolanus gives Lucy Gray some food, and then they talk about the Hunger Games. Snow tries to boost Lucy Gray's morale by telling her about all the gifts she's been getting, and it worked.

    Chapter 13

    The 10th Hunger Games officially began, and when Snow was watching, he saw Marcus' (the district 2 boy who ran away during the bombs) bloodied and beaten body at the center of the arena.

    During the dark night of the Hunger Games, the Snow family and Mrs. Plinth spot someone in the arena through their television, and the latter immediately makes it out to be her son, Sejanus.

    Chapter 15

    Coriolanus is asked to retrieve Sejanus from the arena and talks with him. He succeeds in convincing Sejanus to come with him and out of the arena.

    Bobbin, the tribute who tried to attack Coriolanus, gets beaten to a pulp by Snow before he escapes from the arena.

    Jessup is infected with rabies and chases Lucy Gray. He almost catches her but fails due to a large number of water donations and the fact that Jessup has hydrophobia.

    Coriolanus visits the snakes that were planned to be released into the arena. He pulls out a handkerchief kept by Lucy Gray, and puts it into the snake tub and watches it get smothered by the dozens of snakes.

    After the snake incident, Coriolanus visits the Plinth house to check on Sejanus, but ends up encountering his parents instead. They talk for a while and both of the parents thank Snow for saving Sejanus' life.

    Lucy Gray wins the 10th Hunger Games. Coriolanus wins a moment of glory, fame and the prestige of becoming a Peacekeeper.

    Chapter 21

    Dean Highbottom confronts Coriolanus about the handkerchief incident and explains that the handkerchief had his father's initials stitched in the corner. That was the reason Snow and Lucy Gray were caught.

    Coriolanus witnesses an execution in person for the first time. The executed person's last words seemed to repeat and echo in Snow's head, even after he was dead.

    Snow and his fellow Peacekeeper recruits, including Sejanus who joined, go to a District 12 "concert". There, they see Lucy Gray and the rest of her band called the "Covey".

    Coriolanus and Sejanus find out where Lucy Gray lives. Her bandmates direct them to where she is, and Snow and Lucy Gray reunite.

    Sejanus lies to Coriolanus when talking in the Peacekeeper bunk, which makes the latter's trust with the former grow more and more apart.

    Coriolanus meets Lucy Gray again, and they talk about their father's deaths. Both of them were killed by the enemy soldiers, which creates another sort of bond.

    Chapter 27

    Sejanus decides to tell Coriolanus about the whole rebel plot, and Coriolanus, who was suspicious because Sejanus lied to him again just a few hour ago, decided to record the conversation with a jabberjay.

    Chapter 28

    Sejanus is found guilty of treason and conspiring with the rebels, and is executed by hanging. Lil, the rebel he was trying to save, was also hung.

    Chapter 29

    Coriolanus and Lucy Gray decide to run away from District 12 together. They would meet at the hanging tree, 1 day after the meeting.

    Chapter 30

    When gathering some stuff during their runaway, Coriolanus discovers that Lucy Gray took the supplies + the guns and ran off somewhere unknown.

    Epilogue

    Coriolanus and Dean Highbottom meet in the academy, and they discuss multiple things. Sejanus, Lucy Gray, and the reason why the Dean despised Snow's father so much. they say their goodbyes, and Highbottom gets poisoned by Snow. Rat poison in a morphling dose, to be precise.
