Marcus unified the roman economy and spent a lot of time having to put down rebellions and fighting invations off. he chose his son Commodus to suceed him upon death.

It is said that he had a vision of a symboll a p with a cross in it ( as the picture shows ) he had all of the sheilds painted with the symball and he ended up winning the battle.     Commodus Aurelius ruled rome in 180 C.E Commodus's time as ruler is considered the beggining of the decline of the roman empire. while he ruled he was more interested in entertainment than the goverment. He was assassinated the year 192 C.E. Since he claimed no sucsessed rome falls into civil war.
