The Life of Kyle Patterson

  • Intro Paragraph

I'd generally consider myself an easygoing person. I can be on the quiet side around people I don't know well but around those that I do I'm usually pretty outgoing. I have an active imagination and a creative side which often helps me in projects but can sometimes make it hard for me to pay attention in class. While my perspective of life is generally optomistic, I can be pessimistic at times. I want to have a profession in the arts, but more than anything I just want to live a happy life.
  • Watching Cartoons

Like most young kids, I spent a lot of time watching cartoons, mostly on kids channels like Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network. While I loved most of the contemporary shows (at the time) on these channels, my favorite cartoons were classics like Tom and Jerry and the Looney Tunes. It wasn't something I thought much about, but even today I find myself still loving cartoons. This has resulted in drawing being one of my main hobbies and has made me want to become an animator or a cartoonist.
  • Moving to a New House

In the summer of 2004 we moved from our old hose off of O'Plaine Road to our current one near Sunset Foods. Even though we stayed in the same town, at the time it was a big change for me, especially since I was no longer close to my old friends. Moving taught me that sometimes in life you go through changes that you don't expect but most of the time you're able to adapt to them after a while.
  • Geography Textbook

My love for cartoons at such a young age was sort of a given. Oddly enough, however, I've also found that I'm fascinated with world geography. For my 8th birthday, my parents gave me a geography textbook that had a description of every country in the world. I read it almost cover to cover. Reading this textbook showed me how there was so much more to the world than Libertyville and how it is full of all kinds of unique things. I credit it with turning me into the geography nerd I am today.
  • My Grandma's Death

This happened just last May. My grandma broke her hip from falling and died due to a stroke she had from the surgery. It was the first time that a family member that was really close to me died, and it was it was a very rough time foe me and my family. I still miss her a lot, but it has gotten easier since then and my life is mostly back to normal now. While it was a very sad moment in my life, it made me truly understand the concept of death and it has made me appreciate life more as a result.
  • Football State Championship

Our foorball team made it to state this year and got to play in the championship at NIU. Unfortunately, we didn't win the game and as a team we were all very upset. While losing was hard to swallow, it taught me that things won't alwaays go your way and sometimes you just have to accept it and move on. It also made me reflect back on the season and think about all the friendships I made and memories I had and made me realize that those were the things that I'd ultimately remember.
