    Upon my arrival in the Unitied States, we saw an amzing sight. This beaustiful piece of art happened to be the Statue of Liberty. The sight of the statue brought much cheering and applause to the boat. All of us were filled with joy and hope upon sight because it was a sign that we had finally arrived in a free land, America.

    Arrival and Detainment at Ellis Island
    When I arrived at Ellis Island I was immediately singled out, becuase of my Irish culture, and told that I was to be detained dut to a sickness. At first I had thought that this would not be to bad, but unfortunately I was very wrong. In the staying area everything was unsanitary and I refused to stay there, I then constantly complained until they told me that I would be evicted if the complaints continued. Then finally, they released me to America. I just hope that the discrimination will stop.

    In the area in which I lived was starting to become urbanized. An affect of the urbanization on this area was that the area slowly turned into a slum, even I was forced to live in a tenement. Then later on a earthquake shook the area and tons of people were killed due to the close proximity of housing. This affected my life by forcing me to move away to another area because everything was destroyed.

    After my horrible experience at Ellis Island I started regretting coming to America. After some time I decided to go over why I came here to ensure that I had made the right decision. I went over that the potato famine was happening, there were no freedoms, and there was no land in Ireland. While in America there were jobs and freedoms.

    In America I had a job for a very limited amount of time, after a few years I lost my job and could not afford my house so I was thrown on the street. As a result of this tragedy I was forced to live on the street. While living on the street I sought out jobs in many different areas but I was always turned down becuase of my Irish roots. An affect of this was that I was forced to eat my meals out of garbage which led me to almost dying through a fever.

    As i lived my meager life as a bum in the city I came upon a sign that said there was free land in the West. Curiousley I asked a man about this and he confirmed this so I then decided to find a caravan to travel to the West with. Upon finding a caravan I reviewed why I was going becuase moving to the West could have made my life worse. I reviewed that I was going becuase there was major discrmination and in the
    West everyone is starting fresh and there was free land.

    On this day I married Clodagh. As a result of this marriage we were granted with 640 acres of land becuase of the Homestead Act. Another affect was that we had two children and named them Cliona and Conhobhar. Finally, due to the fact of our new land we profited by lots of money.

    Due to my vast amount of land I started a buisness. The main affect of starting this buisness was that I profited becuase I sold fresh food throughout the West. Another affect of this was that I was able to buy more land from my constant profits. Another affect of this was that I became renowned nationally and sold throughout the whole USA.

    During this time, while my buisness was thriving, I was traveling with my family and we were ferociousley attacked by the Indian savages. An affect of this attack was the death of my wife and son. My daughter had survived but was in a horrible mental state.

    The deaths of my family still shake me to this day so I, Okhobar O'Reilly, have decided to close my business. I have chosen to close my doors becuase I have no longer the will to live as I once had. So now I have decided that I will live the rest of my life as an average old man and die alone.
