  • Nationalists flee to Taiwan

    In late 1949, Jian Jieshi fled to Taiwan, or what they called China. It is still known as the Nationalist China and is seperated from mainland China, however the Taiwanese believe that they are the government of the People's China and the People's China believe that they own Taiwan.
  • Great Leap Forward

    In 1958 Maozedong led the Great Leap Forward. His plan involved moving the entire country to communes and maximizing production. In the end, Maozedong's plan resulted in the death of an incredible number of people.
  • Cultural Revolution

    In 1966, Maozedong led the cultural revolution, where he tried to eliminate all of the remants of ancient China and move it forward. After students went ludicrious over the revolution, even Maozedong agreed the revolution had to stop.
  • Khmer Rouge

    The exremist Communist group, Khmer Rouge, under the leader Pol Pot, invaded and took over Cambodia, and committed mass genocide.
  • Fall of Saigon

    The Fall of Saigon was when the North Vietnamese Communists took over the South Vietnamese city of Saigon. American helicpters atemmpted to rescue everyone from the American embassy.
