    Created after the Coup of 18-19, during the French Revolution. It was later abolished by Napoleon when he declared himself emperor.

    An agreement between Napoleon and Pope Prius VII. It was signed in Paris, and was effective until 1905.

    Written by Napoleon, this book was, in short, the French’s version of a constitution.
  • Napoleon Declares Himself Emperor

    He crowned himself, therefore not giving any power to anyone else. At the same time, he crowned his wife Josephine Empress. This was held in the Cathedral of Notre-Dame, in Paris, and was incredibly expensive.

    Although the French had the Spanish Navy on their side, the British ultimately won. This was a loss for Napoleon.
  • Abolished Holy Roman Empire

    After he was defeated by Napoleon at Austerlitz, the last emperor of the Holy Roman Empire abdicated the throne, ending the Empire.

    Napoleon cut off legal trade between Europe and the rest of the world. It ultimately failed, since Europe’s economy started to fall.

  • Napoleon Abdicates the Throne

    Napoleon had intended to keep his support from Paris, however, they didn’t agree. They demanded he abdicate the throne, and eventually exiled him.

    Right after he was allowed out of exile on Elba, Napoleon launched into another war. This ended with the Battle of Waterloo.
