    Born in 1796 in Corsica, a French-ruled island in the Mediterranean. He was the second of eight children, born to Carlo Buonaparte and Letizia Romalina Buonaparte.

    Napoelon invaded Russia with 600,000 soldiers and 50,000 horses. The Russians wanted to avoid battle with Napoelon, so they retreated eastward. They eventually fought in Moscow, and the Russians wiped out Napoelon's army, leaving fewer than 20,000 soldiers.
