  • 1st Cell Phone

    1st Cell Phone
I was in the 5th grade and probably did not need a cell phone, but I got one for Christmas that year. Basically used it to play snake and send a very counted number of texts. This was way before unlimited.
  • 1st Desktop

    1st Desktop
My parents bought my brother and I our own desktop computer to do our school work on. We had a family computer, but it bothered my mother that we were always on it. We spent most of the time on the computer IMing our friends or actually typing papers because we really didn't know how to use it for anything else.
  • 1st Laptop

    1st Laptop
When I graduated high school my parents gave me my very own laptop to take to college. It was a pink DELL.
  • 1st Mac Book

    1st Mac Book
When I graduated college they gave me a Macbook Pro. I used it my first year as a teacher. I had accepted a teaching position at a Flipped Charter School in North Carolina so my parents updated me one last time before sending me out into the world. I've only ever owned two laptops, and they were both gifts to help further my education and start my career.
  • Attack of the Apple

    Attack of the Apple
I got very comfortable teaching with technology in North Carolina. I then moved to Charleston, WV to start a new teaching job. At this school I use an iPad, appleTV, Macbook Pro, SmartBoard, some days my iPhone to teach a classroom of students who all also have iPads. Creating this timeline made me realize how little I used computers in college and how much I use them now. Then, it was maybe once or twice a day to write papers or check emails. Now it's every day most of the day!
