    My dad used a CB radios in his vans for business reasons.

    We had a Nintendo. I spent some moments as an addict, when my brothers ever let me play. We stopped at the Nintendo, had only one game, Super Mario Brothers, and never upgraded.
  • Red Van

    Growing up, my parents had a red van that we stuffed with at least 6 dogs, 4 aunts,n1 uncle, 10 cousins and maybe a husband and a trailer with all the stuff. Good thing there was a lot of space in the back. The Red Van was also a place where forced communication, albeit yelling, took place among my immediate family.

    My mom cut the electric cord to the TV because all anybody did in the house was watch TV. My brother re-attached it the same day. She was furious.

    We first got dial up internet when I was 16. We also got a Chinese exchange student who would spend all day everyday on the internet, so our phones would always have a busy signal. It would infuriate me.

    I had my 1st email address - lilywoll@bigplanet.com. - My mom's friend set it up and paid $12 a month to maintain it. I used it regularly in Brazil as an exchange student. while I was there I met a werdo in a chat room. Although I never met him in person, the idea still gives me chills. It was a great opportunity to practce my Portuguese.

    I got my 1st cell phone. I think I was 20 or 21 years old and living in NYC. I used the T-Mobile company.

    My sent me a computer after the 2nd year of college. I immediately broke one of letter keys. I was grateful. I remember using it for only writing papers.

    I go my 2nd email account when I realized that having an email could be free. Eventually I lost this account because Yahoo had me change passwords and I could never remember it. I finally have changed to gmail.com. I had a hotmail account for a while, but forgot that password as well.

    I bought my first airline ticket online. It was the 1st thing I ever bought online. It was so nerve wracking. I thought for sure I was getting robbed because it was not a real person confirming the process. Now, I feel like I am getting robbed when I go through an agency with a real person.

    In Mexico, I used a scale similar to this one for my fruit and vegetable store. After each transaction I would question if the measurements were exact, probably because it was not digital.

    Mom loves to ask people for directions and gets really annoyed when they get out their phone or tell her to use GPS. She gets disappointed that the human interaction is missing.

    Used my first and only iphone from work for 1 year. I may have to get one when my current phone breaks. (it was nice!) It had a pink rubber case, but I never learned to use any apps. I took pictures :)

    I had a projector and computer in class. I would rarely use it. I did not know how to use it effectively.

    I used the website Covered CA as a Certified Counselor. Since people have such unique cases and lives it was complicated communicating that to a website, let alone, one that did not work regularly. I used RPMS computer program for the clinic which communicated patient information with other staff members.

    I used to work at Lake County Social Services. I had to learn computer programs, such as C-4, MEDS and ImageNow. It was tedious and I had access to very personal inforation.

    I started to use Facebook in Guyana. Now I have a ridiculous 450 friends. Many of them, I do not know, but I do keep intouch with friends in Guyana that I wouldn't normally.
