Senior year, we spent time in 'computer' class, writing 'go to' statements to make the computer print out the first letter of our last names. First experience with a computer.

Senior year college, it was thrilling to be able to use a word processor, it was like a typewriter with memory. No more having to retype papers for small typos.

At my first job out of college, sent my first fax to Clearly Canadian beverage company. Felt like magic, having a piece of paper seem to 'travel'.

Early Word programs didn't have automatic saving. I remember getting a little OCD about saving anything I was working on, because the whole thing was a bit of a mystery and sometimes files seemed to just disappear.

Two words...dial up...it used to be the sound of the future and then became the sound of frustration as things quickly improved. But in the beginning the phone line was used to connect to the internet. And we would ask 'do you have an email address?' because it wasn't a given.

By 1996, everyone I knew was up and running online, except for my 70 year old aunt. But then WebTV came out and I helped her learn how to get online without having to use a computer.

Captivate and it's keystroke recording feature in creating simulations, allowed me to capture the workflow of a whole department of workers that were being down-sized. It was priceless to be able to capture that knowledge in the short time before they were to leave.

I feel in love with the shape and feel of my first iPhone and never kept it in a case. I didn't care that the battery got hot and needed to be replaced. I just kept getting them replaced.

I still remember the first Youtube videos I watched (on a desktop computer), the guys on the treadmills [https://youtu.be/dTAAsCNK7RA] and the sneezing panda. It seemed incredible that anyone could make a video and share it with the world. Whoaaaaa!

It was so awesome to use Webex to provide synchronous, hands-on computer training to employees located all over the US. I had 10 computers and monitors set up on a big table. To keep straight whose activity I was watching I put post it notes with names on them on the individual screens.

Because I usually worked independent of teams, it took until 10 years after it had come out, for me to have my first experience with real time collaboration found in google docs. For me it was just as mind blowing as sending my first fax.

I'm grateful that even as I'm learning various software products, that new software products come out that have even more automaton. I love Canva's one click 'background' eliminator. So much easier than masking in Photoshop.
