    I was born into a family that curently had three people in it. My mother is an elemntary teacher, working in a urban setting. My father is a restaurant manager. Their first child is girl named McKenna. She is two at the moment.

  • Before Bed Story Time

    Before Bed Story Time
    I remember when I was little my mom would read Mercer Mayer books to my sister, brother and I before we were put to bed. We would take turns picking out which one we wanted to read. My favorite one was the halloween one. We still have the books today.
  • First day of Kindergarten

    First day of Kindergarten
    I remember my first day of kindergarten being very scary. Although I thought I was very cool since I knew my alphabet. We had story time in class and we went over how to write letters.
  • Learning Disability

    I'm in third grade and I am dignosed with a learning disablility. They find that I am unabale to say me vowels and I know very little sight words. Because of this I am unable to read until they start intervention.
  • Making Progress

    I am in fifth grade now and I am making a lot of progress. I am able to read and now most of my sight words. I am still a slow reader, so I avoid reading out loud in class. We have reading logs do every month. If we have enough hours we get a ticket to go to Six Flags. Although it took me awhile I got the ticket.
  • Moving Schools

    Moving Schools
    I am starting at a new school in the subarbs of Chicago. I am still getting extra help with reading, but I do not work one on one with a instructer anymore. I realize that there are a lot more people with better literacy skills than in my previous school.
  • Anne Frank

    We started reading Anne Frank in language arts class. SInce it is a two hour block my teacher was able to do what I thought, at the time, was the coolest thing ever! she made us pretend like we were living in an attic hiding from the Nazi's in Germany. We had to take off our shoes when we got into class. The windows were covered in black construction paper. The harderst thing for us 8th graders to do was talk quietly.

    First Day of HIgh school
    Today I' started my first day of High School. Through my four years of high school I learn a lot about how to write papers such as; persuasive, research, cause and effect, and narratives. I also read classic books that were assagned to the grade level. I read Romeo and Juliet, Beowulf, Catcher in the Rye, The One Who Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, Gulliver's Travels, Brave New World, Hamlet, and To Kill a Mockingbird.

    Starting College
    I'm starting my first year of college at Joliet Junior College. I am no longer recieveing special help for my learning disability. I am placed into a lower level of English where I am able to understand and comprehend the things I did not when I was younger.
  • Last Spring Semester

    It is my last spring semester at my junior college. I am taking a class for elementary reading. We talk about different types of books that are good for development. We also desscuse what child appropriatness is and children reading levels.
  • Illinois State University

    I am starting my first semester at my dream college. I am learning a lot from my assigned reading and I comprehend a lot more than in previous years.
