    Life of Ryan Byrd

I feel that I have become a good person who makes good decisions and enjoys life and lives it to the fullest. A major character trait I would say I have is the ability to not let past events effect me majorly in my life. If I had to use one word to decribe myself I would use happy.
  • Younger Brother

    Younger Brother
I have younger brother who is almost 3 years younger than me. Over the years he has tortured me just as younger brothers do, and taken some of the spotlight. I remember being at the hospital with my uncle and asking if we could keep the other one in the room because it was cuter. This has obviously effected me because he is my younger brother and has changed me.
  • Preschool

In preschool all I could remember is that I learned my phone number and instead of hanging out with all the boys I was friends with the girls. I don't know why but I was better friends with the girls than the boys. This could have had an effect on me because I wasn't friends with males until I got into sports.
  • Broken Wrist

When I was in preschool I had a crush on a girl in my class. After school I was at the playground with my friend Zoe and the girl I had a crush on. I tried impressing my crush by hanging on the monkey bars with one hand, and I fell and landed and broke my wrist. This taught me a lesson that trying to impress girls only works most of the time.
  • 9/11

I lost my aunt Roseanne and cousin Brendan during the attacks on the twin towers on 9/11. My family was never the same and still I don't talk to many of my uncles and aunts and cousins because of it. There were many related issues that occured afterwards but this was the event that began it all.
  • Best Friend

    Best Friend
I met my best friend Doug in kindergarden, who is still my best friend to this day. I tried to open my bag of goldfish during snack time and the bag exploded and went all over the room, and Doug helped me clean them up. That is how we met and became best friends. This has a significance in my personality and life because Doug is such a big person in my life and he is one of the only people I trust completely.
  • Started Baseball

I began playing baseball at 5 years old. This has effected me and my life because I love the sport and still play it today. It is also a big part of my life as I move forward to look at colleges and do things in the future.
  • Moved to New House

In Febuary of 2003 we moved from our house on Market Street, which was next to Bodmen Park, to our current house on Sleepy Hollow Road. This effected me by moving from a neighborhood setting, which was very close to my best friend Doug and neighbor Zoe, to a main road which wasn't really the same. I feel it made it harder to make friends and isolated me from kids as a child.
  • Lost First Tooth

In 3rd grade I had my first loose tooth, so during an assembly in the auditorium I turned to my friend who was a girl next to me and said "my tooth is loose." Immediately she punched me in the mouth and my tooth popped out and wasn't loose anymore. She said, "now it isn't." So I thanked her and went to the nurse so she could put my tooth in a plastic necklace for me to take home. I think this effected me because it taught me to toughen up and not show pain.
  • Uncle Advice

When I was a little kid my great uncle had a talk with me and told me, "never lie, you will always get in less trouble by telling the truth." I eventually took this to heart because my great uncle John passed away about a year after and this was the first death of someone that I was old enough to understand. I try to use this advice in everyday life as best I can.
  • Favorite Teacher

In 4th grade I had a crush on my teacher named Ms Solomon. She came to my baseball games and loved me and was very attractive. I believe this has effected me in my life by letting girls and friends distract me from my school work.
  • Baseball

I chose to play for the NJ Bad Boys instead of the Middletown Warriors because it was more fun of a team and less serious. I believe this translates to my personality because it shows I put fun before other things.
  • Friend Betrayal 2

After believing Justin was right about everything, I believed him in the turkey trot in 5th grade. It was a race across the soccer field and the whole grade participated. I asked Justin how he was so fast and he told me "look backwards when you run." It didn't make sense to me but I believed him. When the turkey trot started I ran and looked backwards, and I tripped and fell, coming in last place. This has effected me because I made sure to be careful trusting him.
  • Friend Betrayal 1

In 5th grade one of my good friends since 1st grade, Justin, had told me that Santa wasn't real. Then, after I asked my parents it turned out that it was true and that Justin was right. This made me think Justin was right with many things, although it upset me at the time.
