    The British took over Sudan it the 1920’s. The country split into the northern and southern parts. The northern spoke Arabic and the southern part spoke English.

    Britain had the north controlling Sudan because they had a civil war

  • Anya Nya is Created

    During the first civil war, a group of people wanted to get out of the country and create their own country

  • Sudan’s Independence from Britain

    The parliament voted for Sudan to finally have their independence and soon, British and Egyptians left the country.

  • Nimeiri Becomes President in Sudan

    New military coup placing Jaafar Numeiri at power

  • Oil is First Discovered in Sudan

    Oil was first discovered in SOUTH Sudan.

  • Omar Al-Bashir Becomes President

    Omar Al-Bashir became president of Sudan and he ordered to kill the Darfurians
