    Today is the day! I have bought my ticket to go to America! Oh I can't wait for freedom and a nice decent job. I have heard so much about America, the freedom, decent wagers, and above all free land! Who doesn't like free?

    The trip to America was tough. There was sick people in the boat and so I stayed well away from them so I wouldn't get anything. i heared from my brother that they check you in America for any sickness and i f you are sick then they send you bacK. I guess these people didn't know.

    We are almost there and now I look back and remember why I came here. No jobs, no freedom, and no free land. My mom got sick when I was just 14 now that I'm 26 I can go to America and have my freedom!

    As we pass the Statue of Liberty, everyone went to the side of the boat to look at it. I just stayed back, still scared of getting ill, but I saw a barrel and stood on top of it and got a better view then anyone on the boat.

    My brother, it's been 3 years since I saw him. he has taken me under his wing and let me live in his house with him. He even says he going to teach me english! What a brother I have!

    My wonderful brother has thought me basic english so I could get a job for a railroad company.So i went there and they said that I could start working on Monday which is four days away! Our neighbors are italian also and they are happy to introduce me to the workers and show me what to do. I can't wait!

    As my first day at work didn't go so well. Since I am italian they insulted me and disrespected me because of my race. But i put that all aside and worry about my work.

    Pay less
    As of my pay, I get payed less because of my race. And it doesn't even matter if i work harder or I spend extra time nailing down the rails, I still won't get payed the same or more then the Americans.
  • My House

    As the time passed I have collected my money and made a decision to build my own house in my brother's land. He's lucky to get free land from the Homestead Act which supported non-rich people to get free 160 acres of land. And my nice brother let me build a house upon his land.

    As I was working with the railing and putting them in a stack. I stumbled and the railing fell on my arm. I was rushed to the hospital, with a deep cut in my arm. You could see my bone cracked in half. The doctors told me and my friends that they had to amputated my arm off. And so they did.

    Back in the Hospital
    As my arm started to heal it grew an infection and it yed me to the hospital again. But this time the doctors said it was to late, the infection went inside my body and there was no other way then to die.
  • Deathbed

    Deathbed
    Here I'm on my deathbed waiting for my life to go. I feel lighter and lighter by the minute. As my life in America was great beside this time and I leave everything to my brother.
