Steph's Game Timeline

  • I entered the world

    My birthday!
  • Animal Crossing: City Folk

    Animal Crossing: City Folk

This game is the first Wii game that I ever played: a beautiful open world life simulation game that is also known as Animal Crossing: Let's Go to the City or simply ACCF. This game was instrumental in teaching me and my sister about mortgages, debt, handling money, and the importance of forming strong social connections. To express my love for this game, I have created many ACCF-inspired crafts, maps, and clay figurines. I still occasionally play it to this day.
  • Mario Kart Wii

    Mario Kart Wii

Mario Kart Wii was another game that tested my competitiveness and ability to lose with dignity. After refining my skills and practicing each level relentlessly, me and my sister successfully unlocked every achievement possible on each of the four profiles, which we are still trying to redo after our Wii console reset itself. I love challenging friends at this game, and demonstrating my expertise that has been developed over ten years.
  • Wii Sports Resort

    Wii Sports Resort

A timeless multiplayer game where players engage in different sports on a fantasy island called Wuhu Island. One of my favourite sports to play on this fictional paradise is Island Flyover, in which the player takes themselves on a five-minute plane ride tour of the island and attempts to find all 80 of the designated information points. Me and my sister loved exploring the island in this way, and managed to find all information points multiple times with different Mii avatars.
  • Animal Academy

    Animal Academy

This adorable game was one of the first I downloaded on my iPod Touch, and later, my iPad. Animal Academy places the player in the role of the principal of a little school, which players can expand as they advance through levels. I always loved the adorable little classrooms and recreational rooms that you could purchase with both coins and brownie points. This game was iconic for me and my sister, as we both obsessed over it and like ACCF, created many crafts, maps, and clay figurines from it.
  • Super Mario Galaxy 2

    Super Mario Galaxy 2

Another timeless Wii game that I still play today. There are six graphically iconic worlds for players to explore and play through in an attempt to rescue the beloved Princess Peach from Mario's long-time arch-nemesis, Bowser. I loved the open-world concept, unique nature-meets-the-cosmos aesthetics, all the collectable rewards, (such as coins, star bits and 1-up mushrooms), and adorable characters you encounter on your adventure. Me and my sister have completed the game on multiple profiles.
  • Bakery Story

    Bakery Story

I recently redownloaded this game due to the profound nostalgia that it gives me. This was one of the first games I downloaded onto my iPod Touch, and later my iPad. It was a refreshingly simple game with stunning pastel aesthetics and an addictive objective: to make different kinds of food for a growing customer base and advance to higher levels. This game taught me how to anonymously interact with people from all over the world, and work with each other to advance your own game.
  • Briscola

    Briscola

This is an iconic Italian card game taught to me by my Italian relatives, and frequently played by me and my Italian friends. I love that it combines both skill and luck, and requires the development of a clever strategy. The game involves a trump suit, and requires players to make the most points they can with the cards that they are given. Briscola helped me connect with my Italian roots and taught me how to keep a Poker face in a game where necessary.
  • The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

My favourite game of all time. My sister and I discovered the magic of The Legend of Zelda series through a Nintendo game that combined spin-off minigames from all their most successful games. This lead us to purchase The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, in which players explore an open-world concept and gather tools and skills in order to defeat the main antagonist, Calamity Ganon. I've devoted hours to this game, with no regrets, and still play it to this day.
  • Among Us

    Among Us

One of the iconic games of quarantine 2020, aside from Animal Crossing: New Horizons, this iPhone app places players from across the globe in a group of typically ten players, one to three of whom are imposters and must sabotage the others. There are several different configurations, but my favourite is having 10 players, where two of them are imposters. This fun and addictive game was a must-have for me and my friends during peak pandemic isolation.
