    The Industrial Revolution was the revolution that spread to most countries, starting a giant worldwide project of the discovery of technology and machines.

    The French Revolution, following after the American Revolution, was somewhat a copy of the Americas, where the French decided they wanted to be independent as well. So, for the next eight years, the French people rose up against their government, demanding more rights, and, after a very short and very bloody period, they got them.

    South American Revolution

    A war between Cuba and the United States where the US tried to imperialize Cuba for its resources. Eventually, thanks to yellow journalism, people got all riled up and the United States was barely able to keep them from stopping.

    Haitian Revolution

    This revolution was sparked by the fires of the French Revolution, since almost everyone in Haiti was paying attention to what was happening in France. The Haitians were hoping to get more freedom (like the French did) and also have more equality with this revolution.

    The Napoleonic Wars were the side effects of Napoleon's attempts to expand French territory.

    The Monroe Doctrine was introduced by President James Monroe, and basically was a doctrine that warned European countries not to further colonize in America.

    The Opium Wars was a series of small fights and skirmishes between China and severwal Western nations. The conclusion of these wars were the forcible opening of China to trade.
  • Sepoy Rebellion

    The Sepoy Rebellion took place in Meerut, India. It was a result from Native Indians being unhappy with foreign encroachment and taxation, plus the East India Company boiling over the rim with their peers. The thing that set them over the edge was a rumor that spread in 1856 saying that the greases on the cartridges were made of a mixture of beef tallow and pork lard. Both were sacred to the Hindus and Muslims, and Hindu and Muslim sepoys (soldiers) rebelled.

    Whenever Secretary of State William Steward bought Alaska from Russia, people laughed at him. Until the discovery of gold and old changed their minds.

    The Meiji Restoration in Japan was a signal of the end of the Shogunate political system and the beginning of modern Japan.

    Zulu War

    The British took over the Dutch port of Cape Town and named it Cape Colony in the early 1800s. The Zulu tribe was a powerful Zulu fighting forc e. A Zulu king built up a small army, and riped out rivals and protected his empire from a takeover by the Europeans. Other Zulu kings increased the size of the army even more, and in 1879, a leader decided to stand up to the British. When they wanted him to disband the army, he refused. This six-month war ended in the Zulu's defeat.
  • US Annexes Hawaii

    Hawaii provided a fueling station and port for the United States' navy, the islands making the trip across the Pacific Ocean easier for both merchants and the military.
  • Spanish-American War

    The Spanish-American War was a result of American intervention in the Cuban's War of Independence. The Spanish-American War was, as the name implies, between Spain and America. This war also eventually led up to the Philippine-American War, because of their involvement in the Philippine Revolution.

    Boxer Rebellion

    Most of the Chinese hated foreign interference in their country, especially their efforts to spread Christianity. Some societies were formed in secret to help rid China of the outsiders. One soceity, called Boxers by the Europeans and Americans, attacked foriegners in Beijing. Many cxountries sent in troops and crushed the Boxer Rebellion.

    Russo-Japanese War

    The Russo-Japanese war was, of course, between Japan and Russia. Both countries wanted to trade with Korea, and, after six years in control of Port Arhur, Japan tried to take it from Russia. Afterwards, Russia sent a fleet to attack Japan, but the modern Japanese navy easily sank their ships. It ended when Russia turned over its base at Port Arthut, and gave up part of Sakhalin.

    Mexican Revolution

    This revolution was a "battle between the classes," you could say. During this time, the ranks were very unfair, sorted by where you were born and your ethnicity. The second rank and below soon rebelled against the top rank and overthrew them, and in the end became the top class for a bit.
  • Panama Canal Opens

    The Panama Canal can now be used as a quick transport from the Pacific Ocean to the Atlantic Ocean, or vise versa, instead of having to go all the way around South America.
  • WWI Begins

    Once World War I begins, it interrupts Imperialism, completely ending the Industrial Revolution.
