    The early years in Peru brought challenges such as learning the language, becoming acclimatized to the high altitude and coming to terms with the utter poverty and degration of the people.

    Sr Irene was executed
    On Tuesday the 21st of May 1991, Sister Irene taught sewing anf craftwor to the women of the village and helped children. In the evening she went to work in the garden. Suddlenly there was a loud banging at the door. She was escorted through the streets into the plaza for a public trial. Irene walked camly. For 2 hours the five victims were bullied, interogated and shouted at. At 8pm they were orded to ie face down and they were shot in the head. Irene was the first to be executed.
  • Died: as she had been guilty of the crime of feeding the poor.
