The Uniting Church in Australia Officially united with the Basis of Union declaration in 1977, the majority of Congregationalists, Methodists and Presbyterians formed the Uniting Church. After many years, the Congregational Union in Australia, the Methodist Church of Australia and the Presbyterian Church of Australia came together in the hope that they would “bear witness to that unity which is both Christ's gift and will for the Church ''.

The Presbyterian Church was founded on the 10th of June 1983 by John Clavin of Switzerland. It split from the Roman Catholic Church due to doctrinal controversy and disagreements.
