    Rome conquered Greece
    The Romans were fighting the Carthaginians. Some fo the Greeks decided to help the Carthaginians fight the Romans but they lost. They Romans wre very angry at the Greeks and the bagen to conquere Greece as well. At first the Romans pretended to leave the Greeks alone but by 146 BC they had conquered all of Geece and made it into a Roman empire. I think this event is important because it is when Greece was completely changed into a roman empire and is in a way the end of the Greeks.

    Alexander the Great becomes king of Macedonia
    Alexander the Great was the king of Macedonia. He was taught by aristotle when he was young and once he was king he conquered the Persian Empire. It was said that he was acknowledged as a militarty genius and his army only refuesed to follow him once in 13 yeras which indicates that he inspired loyalty. This event is important because Alexander the Great was a very important historical figure an dthis event is the start of when he began doing all that he was famous for.

    The Peloponnesian Wars
    The Peloponnesian war was a war between Athens and the Peloponnesian leauge led by Sparta.The war went for many years and there was a 30 years peace trety at one point but thta did not lasst very long as the oeace trety was soon violated and war broke out again. In the end Sparta won the war. This event is important because it resshaped the Ancient Greek world and it was one fo the biggest wars in Ancient Greek history

    The first Olympic Games

    The first Olympic Games
    The first Olympic Games were held in Olympia. The winning athlete was given and olive branch crown whic was a symbol of honour. The Games were part of a religious festival dedicated to Zeus, who was the king of the gods. I think that this event is important because it is an event that we have continued to do ever since those very first games and they are an important part of our past and we are honouring our ancestors by carrying it on.

    The Trojan War
    The Trojan war started when Helen, the queen of Sparta was kidnapped by the Trojan prince Paris. Her Husband Menelaus convinced his brother Agamemnon, to lead an expedition to rescue her. After ten years of battle the Greeks hid in a giant horse and the Trojans thinking it was a gift pulled it in the city which led to their defeat.This event is important because it signifies the bond between all of Greece because they worked toghther to get back one of their royals.

    The Phoenicians, who were merchants, who had developed a writing system.But this alphabet only had letters for consonants, not for vowels. So the Greeks took the this alphabet and made a few changes. they took away the signs that didn't have a consonantal equivalent in the Greek language and used them instead for individual vowel sounds. This event is important because this alphatbet is the base for most of the western alphatbet and without it we might not have the same alpahbet today.

    Athens is the first city to become a democracy. Cleisthenes of Athens itroduced a constitution that allows all the free men to participate in the decicion making and government of Athens. This event is important because if Athens had not becomea democracy then it is possible that none of the cities would have and we could have a very different lifstyle right now if they had not made the decicion to become a democracy.

    Plato founded the Academy
    Plato was the student of the great philosipher Socrates. After his teacher died he founded the first university which was called the Academy. I think that this event is important because he founded the first university.

    The Persian wars
    The Persians became angry at rhe Greeks and sent warriors to Greece to defeat them. They tried to conquer th Greeks three times at the famous battles of Marathon, Thermopylae, and Salamis. Each time the Persians were defeated. Xerxes, the king of Persia was angry and sent a huge army to Greece. But the greeks won. This event is important because if the Greeks had not won they would have never gone on to discover and invent all those amazing things that have impacted on how we live now.

    The Bronze age was a period that lasted for around three thousand years. There were three civiliations used to identify the people of that time and three stages. The stages were called Early Helladic, Middle Helladic and Late Helladic.The civilisatioons were the The Cycladic civilization, The Minoan civilisation and The Mycenaean civilisation who outlasted both of the others. This event is important because it is near the start of Greek civilisation and shows how much they evolved from that time
