The earlist job that I had was working on our family horse farm. Some of my responsibilities included daily feedings of our horses, cleaning of animals stalls, and daily maintence of fences and feeding areas.

The first job that my I was paid for was cleaning my father's veterinary office at the end of each day. This job paid me ten dollars a week to clean animal cages, walk dogs, sweep and mop the floors, and change out the trash cans in my dad's office. This was the first time that I learned the value of a dollar.

My first job that I held outside of family employment was working at the Golphin Dolphin go kart raceway in Cape Carteret, NC during the peak of tourist season. I chose to work this job because all of my friends from school worked there, even though I could have made more money working for my dad during the same time period.

At the end of my junior year of college I decided to start working on campus at Elon University Campus Recreation to earn some extra money to help pay my part of the rent for my off campus apartment that I was getting ready to lease. I made minimum wage, but I enjoyed being able to do my homework during slow periods in the gym and being able to work out when I finished my shift.

Just after I graduated from Elon University, I was able to find a teaching job at Grimsley High School in Greensboro, NC. This was the first job interview that I had following graduation. Grimsley High School has been the location of where I have been working as a teacher and a coach for the past eight years.

Shortly after I began teaching at GHS, I started working as building supervisor at the Alamance County, NC YMCA. I took on the job as a way to earn extra income.

I became an SAT test administrator to earn extra money once my first daughter was born. The job paid really well for a single day's work, and I worked right from own classroom at Grimsley High School.
