    Although Europeans were able to colonize these smaller countries throughout the time period by doing things such as reforms and using their military strength from 1750-1910, the smaller countries were able to break away from these empires by things such as revolutions.
  • Britain Government Reforms East India Company

    Britain parliament is forced to reform the company because those who were serving it were using it to become rich by exploiting Indian peasants and artisans. This shows continuity as the British government will try to reform others as well in the future.
  • British Capture Cape Town

    Duirng the the French Revolution, when Holland overran France, Britain was able to attack France's colonies. Cape Town was one of these colnies. This sohws change as Cape Town is located on the coast of South Africa allowing a new pathway for Britain.
  • British Annex Capetown

    Britain permanently annex Cape Town. They claimed it was a vitla sea link to their prized colony, India. This shows cchange as the control of Cape Town is now fully in Britain's hnads.

    British farmers and herders come to New Zeland. The British claim the land as part of their global empire. This show continuity as Britain continues to colonize others.

    The rule of India was transferred from the East India Company to Queen Victoria. This shows change as the British parliament has taken control of the government in India.

    The British invade Egypt in an attempt to gain control of the Suez canal that was one of the world's biggest shipping lanes at the time. This shows change as Britian use their military force to take ownership of the Suez canal from Egypt.
  • Europeans "Partion" East Africa

    Due to the rising of nationalism in Europe, other had a feel of superiority over others. This led to Europeans wanting to own more colonies to, which was the symbol of superiority. This shows change as nationalism becomes an important factor of imperialism.
  • Boer Republics Declare War Against Britain

    When British Immigrants moved to the Boer Republics in hope for the gold that others had found there, they were mistreated. Britain was trying to defend these immigrants, however the Boer were defensive and this led to the Boer War. This shows continuity as the British had many conflicts with the Boer prior to this.
  • Egypt Overthrows Britain Rule

    During hte Egyptian Revolutionm, Egypt overthrows Britian rule and is able to regain control of the Suez canal. This shows change as the British no longer control Egypt and the Suez canal.
