  • Thirty Years War

    Thirty Years War
    Originally the war started because of religious conflict between he protestants and the catholics.The war was so large that countries had to put most of their resources into it.Since all their resources were being used for the war it lead to famines and disease with no cure for either. There were five major events during the war:The Bohemian Revolt,Palatinate Phase,Danish Intervention,Swedish Intervention,and the French Intervention. they all played a major role in creating conflict then peace.
  • English Bill of Rights

    English Bill of Rights
    An act signed post to the overthrow if King James II. The bill was made to give parliament power rather than the monarchy. Many believe the bill was what led England to a constitutional monarchy. Tensions were high between the monarchy and parliament which forced King James II to to hand over his throne to his protestant daughter and sign the English Bill of Rights. This event was important because it limited kings and queens power by law.
  • The War of the Austrian Succession

    The War of the Austrian Succession
    This was a time where many different countries got into war all in an attempt to have a new ruler on the throne. It originally began Frederick II of Prussia invaded Silesia. Austria, Britain, and the Netherlands joined forces to defeat Prussia, France, and Spain. They did this to defend the succession of Maria Theresa of the Austrian throne.
  • American Revolution

    American Revolution
    During the American Revolution, British colonists rebelled against the rulers of Great Britain. Although war did not break out right away there were a lot of events leading up to the final gain of independence for American colonies. They were going back and forth with the government trying to gain representation. Eventually they were fed up with the lack of representation they had in the British government so they rebelled to gain freedom. Leading to the US have a democracy instead of monarchy.
  • Stamp Act

    Stamp Act
    This was an act that forced tax on all paper documents in the colonies that were owned by British colonies. They did this in a time where the British were deeply in debt so they used their american colonies to gain revenue. The follow through with the stamp act angered colonists. Colonists spread their radical messages rapidly through newspapers.
  • Treaty of Paris

    Treaty of Paris
    This was a document signed by both the United States and Britain bring the American Revolution to an end. This document ensured that the colonies in the US remain free and independent. Also it allowed the US to expand west. The treaty was super important for the US because it kept their land free from any other "rulers". Also under the treaty the citizens from both parties were protected meaning they would have fair representation.
  • French Revolution

    French Revolution
    This was a time where the citizens overthrew the monarchy government and took control of their on fate. The French Revolution was responsible for changing the social and political structure. It was successful in bringing new ideas to Europe like liberty and freedom for commoners. With the French Revolution slaves gained freedom and women gained rights. Although the French Revolution was devastating in many ways the ideas from it continued on. Which allowed citizens to live a little more freely.
  • Tennis Court Oath

    The Third Estate came together in agreement and decided all together that they would not disband until a new and improved French Constitution had been adopted. They did this because they wanted to force a new constitution onto the king that provided better representation and fairness. This oath was important because it ensured that they would always stick together until the king was pressured and reform was successful.
  • Storming of the Bastille

    Storming of the Bastille
    Craftsmen and store owners stormed the bastille a fortress built to protect Paris. Craftsmen and store owners who were part of the third estate were nervous that the king was rallying troops to attack them because promised needs were not met. While there they demanded that the king hand over the the gunpowder to ensure they could not be attacked, but the king refused. So tensions began to rise and the third estate decided to attack. This led to the overthrow King Louis XIV and the Revolution.
  • Reign of Terror

    Reign of Terror
    This was a a very dark and scary time for people. When radicals took control of the government, their form of authority was to execute anyone who disagreed with them. Citizens were always living on edge in fear for their life. They could not do or say the wrong thing because that would cost them their life. People would see the end of their life by the harsh beheading of the famous device called the guillotine. This time was unfair because with just the slightest bit of doubt meant their guilty.
