On March 6th, 1836 the Alamo in San Antonio fell to General Santa Anna and his Army. The fall of the Alamo claimed 182 lives a mix between Anglo-American and Mexican citizens that defended the Alamo from Santa Anna. -
On April 21st, 1836 General Sam Huston launched an attack on the Mexican Army. This battle would be the battle that would when Texas its independence from Mexico. General Santa Anna would be captured at the end of this battle, ending his assault on Texas. -
On September 1st, 1836 Texas officially becomes The Republic of Texas. -
On September 5th, 1836 Texas voted for officials and voted to ask for Annexation. -
On October 22, 1836 Texas made Sam Houston the First President of The Republic of Texas. -
On March 11, 1837, the United States Recognizes the Republic of Texas. -
On August 4, 1837, The Republic of Texas makes a formal request for Annexation. -
On January 23, 1839, Texas officials withdraws their request for annexation. -
On December 29, 1845, after many years of rejection, Texas finally gets its annexation request approved and joins the United States as its newest state. President Tyler was in office when the Resolution was passed.
