I was in the hospital in the NICU for 14 days. I was in the incubator for jaundice, and on heart and breathing monitors. When my parents brought me home they needed to learn infant CPR. Since my lungs weren't quite fully developed the breathing and heart monitor was necessary in order to take me home. The doctors however felt I was strong enough to come home though.

This one for me may be also psychosocial. I lost it in our Monroe Ice Cream Shop, and I literally lost it. Even after we pulled up our floor (it had a step-we thought it fell down a crack) we still couldn't find it. I was very upset. I thought the tooth fairy wouldn't know to come.

He said she was too good of a dog to send to a pound. She ended up being one great dog. The whole family was crushed.

A new medicine, Hypertonic Saline (Sodium Chloride) 7%, inhaled through a nebulizer turns mucous in lungs to liquid. Founded by Australian surfers while surfing, told their specialist that they could breathe easier while out on the ocean. The vapor mimics the salt water vapor from the ocean!

Met Dr. Madgy. Devin's sinusitis was so bad (full of polyps, infection, etc) couldn't tell the difference between bone and sinus cavity. There was some damage to orbital bones and ethmoid bones. Dr. Madgy made it a priority to schedule Devin for surgery immediately. He actually left for his vacation that same day Devin had his first surgery.

Our hearts were literally broken. Our Pulmonologist, Dr. Gugliani, who was such a big part of our lives, moved to Georgia to further his research in CF and work at the Children's in Atlanta. We wish him the best of luck, but we still miss him! Devin still asks about him.
-
I legally changed Devin's last name from his father's to my last name. :)
-
Started 6 day steroid treatment, in attempt to shrink the polyps to prolong surgery.
-
Devin is now a 4 year old, living with Cystic Fibrosis, and has yet to be hospitalized due to CF related illness. We are another year blessed!
-
even after steroid treatment, Dev's polyps are still too big for comfort and is affecting his active daily life. ENT decides we are doing a CT scan to take a look at the damage before surgery again. ENT explains; There is a possible link to a CF individual with great lung function will have more severe nasal problems and vise versa. There isn't anything I am doing wrong or not doing that can help the return of these polyps. We cannot overlook that it has been too soon for them to return though
-
May will be the earliest Devin will have another surgery.
