Discovering africa's coast was very surprising news for all of Europe, Medieval myths and believes were at an end and proven incorrect.starting a new era for europeans. There were no more reasons to not sail.

    While traveling through the southernmost parts of Africa, Bartolomeu dias had found terrible weather conditions, on the dangerous journey what we know now as the cape of good hope was “discovered” . great discovery which became the starting point of many great explorations and our day and age following travels to the east.

    Due to these obstacles traveling from the west to east became difficult to travel in seek for gold,these restrictions caused the king in portugal in the 15th century to launch the search for a new route to the east to then find goods such as gold and spices which in that time were seen as a possible root of income.

    On their journey they landed in the quelimane river which they then stayed for a month as they got sick with scurvy and their ships needed to be repaired. They later on land in the island of mozambique and are welcomed by the inhabitants who thought that the portuguese shared the same religion as them (Islam), he then discovered that they trade with Arab merchants which had reached with four vessels of gold,jewels,silver and spices .

After this ‘discovery’ the french then set trade posts in madagascar later on colonizing them while the portuguese used malagasy people to enrich themselves by providing slaves from madagascar to europeans.

    The portuguese first landed in brazil in their journey to india lead by pedro alvares cabral. They were soon to discover the “pau do brasil” a brazilian wood tree which they used to create and make red dye.at first the portuguese were more interested in a a profitable trade and enriching themselves rather than conquering or developing the country.this interest soon changed as the want for plantation increased and so did the demand for laborers.

After the discovery many nationalities were then to be seen brazil commonly having mixed wedding and mating,creating the diverse population that we now find in Brazil.

    they first go to angola some time in the 15th century in search for valuable goods such as gold.they come to find that in this region the slaves would be more valuable than the gold that could be found, involving angola into the portuguese slave trade. The portuguese later establish themselves in angola, more than 100 Portuguese families and 400 soldiers set foot in Angola in look for a home.

    after fighting for long the PAIGC declared a one party independence,in 1973.later on in 1974 they both agreed over ceasefire and negotiated over the independence. Mozambique and portugal both engaged in a war for independence,frelimo now having control over most parts of the country the portuguese later ended its engagement in this war,signing the lusaka agreement in september 7th,1974.

    The angolans then had a separation having the parliaments :FNLA, UNITA, and MPLA.making the war for independence hard as the angolan people were dividing themselves in search for power over the country. Seeing how it would not benefit them in that moment.they come to an agreement between each. Reaching their goal of independence in 11th of december 1975.

    The Portuguese african Empire came to an end in the mid 1970’s,ten years after similar european afro-empires were destroyed. They had a long conflict with their colonies,Mozambique,Angola and Guinea(1961-1974). Guinea started a new uprising started by the PAIGC,mozambique having started FRELIMO getting international attention by publicizing their liberated ideas through their time’s modern media.the pressure intensified for the portuguese to remove themselves from power over these countries.
