Eritrea becomes Italy's First Colony in Africa
Eritrea was claimed on July 5th, 1882 by General Oreste Baratieri. The boundries of Eritrea were created during the "Scramble for Africa" and Italy claimed it all. The reason was for financial assistance for both groups involved and to grow the country. The Italians worked on the infrastructure and built factories. -
