    When I was 3 years old, my mom miscarried her soon-to-be fifth child, I still have a sadness thinking I would have had another sibling.

    5th Birthday
    For my fifth birthday, we went over to my grandparent's house, and I got a baby doll that I had been wanting, for my birthday. I was so excited for all the attention to be on me, and I thought I was such a big kid.

    It was a saturday morning when I asked myself the question what would happen to me if I were to die. I asked my mom this question and she explained to me that I had a saviour who died on the cross to take away my sins , and he rose from the dead three days later, it was then I made my decision to accept christ in my heart. I was extatic and I felt content, knowing my future, and that I had a heavenly father who loved me without fail.

    I was eight when I made the decision to get baptised. It is a symbol of my faith, and it was important to me to show. My whole family came to support me and I was excited to take that step.

    I remember my tenth birthday well because I was supposed to have a lot of friends and family come over, but they weren't able to because the weather was too severe. I remember crying about it, and also being unhappy because I felt like I was growing up too fast and I was sad I would never be a single digit again.

    My mom's sister had lived in Virginia my whole life, so I was ecstatic at the thought of having my only cousins being so close.

    My family always knew my brother was a little different, but we thought he was just really shy. Until, he was 16 and my parents realized there was something quite not right about him, so they had him get tested. When they told me my brother had apsergers I remember not being shocked at all, but feeling sad for my brother.

    My dad received a call from the southwest Dubois county superintendent saying I wasn't allowed to play basketball because I did not attend Holland Elementary. They came to a compromise, and I was then allowed to continue playing basketball if I attended half days at the school. My first initial thought was I was happy I could continue playing, because I began to really like the girls on my team, but then I realized I would be attending public school, and i felt nervous.

    I was a nervous wreck my first day of public school. I remember feeling very nervous and feeling like I was academically behind.

    My dad was the one who really wanted to play basketball, but I was homeschooled so he signed me up to play at the Holland Elementary School. I was indifferent about playing the sport, but I remember feeling sick to my stomach going to my first practice. I didn't know any of my teemates, and I wasn't used to being out of my comfort zone.

    My 13th birthday wasn't very special, but some of my family came over for supper. I remember bragging that I was finally a teenager, and being really excited about it.

    My sister leaving for college wasn't exactly a hardship for me. Her teenage years were difficult for the whole family because she was such a rebel, so when it came time for her to leave for college I was ready for some space.

    My dad stopping drinking is something I was starting to believe would never happen. At first, I was sceptical, because this wasn't the first time he attempted to quit, but after a few weeks it was evident he was serious this time, and I felt relief.

    I have always been the closest to my brother, Joe, so when he was getting ready to leave for college, I kind of mourned his leaving the few weeks before he left. Just thinking about it automatically made me sad. Eventually I got used to the distance.

    My 16th birthday wasn't exactly ideal. The day started out nice, my mom took me out to eat, but then we got a call that my grandpa was taking my grandma to the hospital for an emergency surgery for some pain she had been experiencing in her back for awhile. So, that was how the rest of my day went, in the hospital. I was a little bummed out about it at first, but mostly I was just hoping my grandma would be okay.

    I found out my sister was pregnant just a few weeks after Christmas. She threw up the whole time she was home for Christmas, but we just thought she had the flu. The same day she found out, she called my mom on the phone to tell her, and my mom told me that night. There was a sombre mood, and my first reaction was anger. She wasn't with her boyfriend at the time, and I was mad that she had disregaurded everything we were taught growing up.

    Since I've been alive my mom has cleaned houses for a living. After deliberating about it for some time, my mom decided to attend classes at VUJC to become a therapists assistant. I was so proud of her decision to try to make a better support herself and her family. She is the type of woman I strive to be when I grow up.

    Getting my license to drive was one of the best days of my high school career. I received it just a few days after my sophomore year ended, and it was something I had been looking forward to for years.

    My mom woke me up at four in the morning to tell me it was time for my nephew to be born. In the past months I had grown to love the boy, and I was so excited to finally meet him.

    My mom and my sister were talking in another room when I heard a scream. I ran into the room to find an engagement ring on my sister's finger. I wasn't that surprised to find she was engaged considering she had been dropping some pretty big hints to Cody, but I felt so happy and blessed when she asked me to her maid of honor.

    My sister and brother-in-law dropped the bomb that baby number two was on the way ten minutes before I had to go to work. We weren't too surprised by the announcment. Despited the fact that they had just gotten married a few months previous, my sister was very open about wanting another one. I was so excited, and hoping it was a little girl.

    Most of the day of my sisters wedding, I was very nervous. I was anticipating giving my maid of honor speech to 300 people. Besides the speech her wedding was a very emotional event for me, I cried like three times.

    I found out Lexi had passed at the tennis courts, as we were preparing for a meet. When I first found out my initial instinct was a shock. I just stood there in disbelief that the sweet energetic girl who had just come to our tennis game a few days before was gone. After it sank in, I cried with the rest of the girls, we were all so devistated.

    My 18th birthday party was a surprise my mom and sister had set up for me. I didn't know it was coming, so they did a good job of keeping it secret. I was so shocked it was happening, but also so grateful for my family who planned it for me.
