  • The Coup D'Etat

    The Coup D'Etat

This was the event that gave Napolean his power over France in 1799. In this event, they overthrew the government from the directory it was at the time to a new government called a consulate government. This is essentialy the end of the french revolution as this is what they wanted from the start of it.
  • Napoleon Fair Tax System

    Napoleon Fair Tax System

Starting in 1800 Napoleon decided to reform Frances's tax system. He borrowed money and used it to create a more fair tax system for France, this is a big economic success because it helped Frances's economy which was a problem as it was one of the main factors of the French revolution. This was technically part of the Napoleonic code but I think it is necessary to talk about some specific ideas of the code itself. He made it so people could directly pay their taxes avoiding corrupt officials.
  • Increasing Trade

    Increasing Trade

Another big thing for the economy of France napoleon did early after the coup d'état was increase trade for France through lots of countries, one way is through building a lot of canals and roads. This helped to stabilize Frances economy, once again one of France biggest flaws. It didn't take long for Napoleon to drastically improve Frances economy and that was one of the reasons he is such a legendary figure.
  • Established a National Bank

    Established a National Bank

In 1800, he established a National Bank for France which stabilized the economy by issuing paper money that was backed by a large gold reserve.
  • Abolishing Feudalism

    Abolishing Feudalism

Feudalism was a common theme in France in the pre-Napoleon time frame. It is basically trading services for goods or more commonly protection. For example you would work and then you would be protected by the government, it was very common but it was also flawed. In the Napoleonic code feudalism was abolished and this is a very impactful social reform from Napoleon as it paved the way for Frances future.
  • The Napoleonic Code

    The Napoleonic Code

The Napoleonic code got rid of 300 separate legal systems through France. It did away with feudalism which is essentially when people would trade services for protection or goods which before napoleon was a big part of how France was run at the time so this was a big change. People were granted equality as far as the law goes, but at the time equality meant for anyone in their society other than female citizens who were actually stripped of some rights which they didnt have a lot of at the time.
  • Was Elected Emperor

    Was Elected Emperor

This was a big political accomplishment for napoleon as while winning is impressive, it is said that France liked him so much and he was so smart at war tactics that the tally for his vote was above 99% of french people choosing him, this shows how well-liked he was and how at the time he made France that much stronger.
  • The War Against the Third Coalition

The War Against the Third Coalition

In this war, Napoleon showcased his absolute dominance as a military genius. He did this then and has done it on other occasions, he will make one part of his army seem weak and vulnerable. And then when they went to attack that part another huge army of men would "plug the gap" and the other army would have nowhere to go. When they did this in this war they captured 60,000 Austrian enemies. It started in 1803 and ended in 1806.
  • Napoleon Built Lycees

    Napoleon Built Lycees

Another big social reform from Napoleon is in 1807 he went and built a bunch of lycees throughout france. These are schools for boys around the ages of 10-16 or like late elementary school to early high school in comparison to the American school system. He knew how important education was in a thriving country that France had become after 7 years of his rule. He made it a lot easier for the middle class to be educated so this way it's not just upper-class citizens who can get an education.
  • He Conquered Europe

    He Conquered Europe

One of Napoleon's biggest military achievements was conquering all of continental Europe including Spain which would eventually lead to Spanish colonies breaking away from Spain. This is a massive success for Napoleon as it shows that France went from a struggling nation to a thriving nation as soon as he came into power.
  • War of the Fifth Coalition

    War of the Fifth Coalition

This was an important war because napoleon had just lost his first battle as emperor in the battle of Aspern, but he fired back in the battle of Wagram to win. Also when he showed up France was about to lose and he saved them. A big reason this war broke out is that Austria thought France would be weak from the war they were having with Britain, Spain, and Portugal but this wasn't the case. So this ended the fifth coalition but Britain, Spain, and Portugal were still in an ongoing war with him.
  • Incredible Battle Record

    Incredible Battle Record

From the timespan of his first war after the coup d'état to the infamous battle of waterloo napoleon won an astounding 37 battles during his reign. Something else, maybe even more impressive is that he only lost 4 battles and one was indecisive. This is a crazy statistic that really shows his dominance throughout Europe during his reign.
  • Analysis

    Analysis

Napoleon was a good leader for France, he was unmatched as far as wars go and he made France become one of the most prominent nations if not the most prominent nation in all of Europe. He had important social reforms from the Napoleonic code. He had ridiculous political achievements with things like a 99% approval rate. And he created a better tax system and improved trade for economy. He was a very good leader for France
