Italian Campaign 🟢

Apr 20, 1792

Napoleon led troops into Italy to try to unify them amd teach them French ways. When they got to Italy they were badly outnumbered but still conquered Italy.

Egyptian Campaign 🔴

May 1, 1798

Napoleon wanted to seize Egypt to keep trade excess and not allow British access. He fought many battles but lost in the end.

Consulate 🟢

Nov 10, 1799

This is the government that Napoleon wanted the French to adopt. He was at the top of this government, which tried to introduce major change in France. Most people were on board with these changes in their life.

Banque de France 🟢

Jan 18, 1800

Napoleon created this, as a way to keep the economy going after a recession. They were in charge of all the economic problems France had. With all that happened to France, they were able to regain all economic assets back.

Concordat of 1801 🟡

Jul 15, 1801

Napoleon and Pope Pius VII signed an agreement and let the Catholic Church become a part of France again, while having religious freedoms.

Consul for life 🟢

Napoleon created a new legislate and he made him and his inheritance Consuls for life. He did this to show that he would be all powerful at some point in his time.

Napoleonic Code 🟡

Mar 21, 1804

Napoleon created this document to have a new form of laws that differed from Roman laws. It simplified the old laws that France had.

Declared self Emperor 🟢

Dec 2, 1804

During Napoleon’s coronation instead of Pope Pius VII crowning him, Napoleon took the crown and crowned himself. He then said he wanted to be an emperor not a king.

Battle of Trafalgar 🔴

Oct 21, 1805

Napoleon took his navy and a Spanish navy to invade Britain. Although, he was met with the strong British navy that destroyed Napoleon’s plans of ever entering Britain.

Abolished Holy Roman Empire 🟢

Aug 6, 1806

Napoleon decided to abolish the Holy Roman Empire to help his tries of overpowering nearby countries. Even though it had lasted over a thousand years after its fall it came to an end with Napoleon.

Continental System 🔴

Nov 21, 1806

This was a system that Napoleon tried to set up to stop Britain from trading with anyone. He thought it would be a great idea and actually stop them, but it didn’t work in his favor.

Resistance in Spain 🔴

Feb 16, 1808

Napoleon tried to take over Spain, he sent his brother to rule, but the Spanish people and army rebelled against both of them. When Napoleon tried to invade them, he was defeated again.

Invasion of Russia 🔴

Jun 24, 1812

When Napoleon went to invade Russia, he took out many of their soldiers, but that wasn’t enough for him to win. Russia was able to stop his invasion across Europe and this was his first exile.

Battle of Nations at Leipzig 🔴

Oct 16, 1813

Most of Europe fought in this battle, Napoleon and his allies against Russia and its. It was a big battle for Europe and Napoleon made it into a decisive decision. Although, he lost in the end he returned to France before he got exiled again.

Hundred Days 🔴

Mar 20, 1815

Napoleon returned from his exile, King Louis XVII returned to the king, but left when Napoleon was coming back. These hundred days Napoleon’s reign lasted until the battle of Waterloo.

Waterloo 🔴

Jun 18, 1815

This was Napoleon’s last battle, he fought against the coronation. After Napoleon’s try at taking over Europe, he was finally defeated for the last time and he was forced to abdication.

Abdication 🔴

Jun 22, 1815

After Napoleon’s final defeat, he was exiled to St. Helena’s. Although this was his last time ever in France and the reign of Napoleon came to an end.
