    A French Government established during the French Revolution. It improved the government and put Napoleon in control.

    Established the Bank of France. In doing so, revised the entire French economic system.

    Napoleon wanted to heal divisions with the Catholic Church and use the clergy to prop up his regime. Catholicism was declared the religion of majority. Eventually the Pope renounced it and Napoleon placed him under house arrest.

    Led by Admiral Lord Nelson, the British fleet defeated the Spanish and French. This resulted in Napoleon unable to invade England.

    Meant to isolate Britain to increase Napoleon’s rule over Europe. “Order In Council” forbade trade with the United Kingdom while “Milan Decree” stated any ship stopped in Britain would be seized. Led to the war of 1812.

    After being defeated by the Napoleon and the French army, Francis II removed his title and released all states and people from their obligations to the Empire.

    Spain refused to support Napoleon’s goal of invading Portugal. France was eventually defeated in the Peninsular war as Napoleon also decided to invade Spain.

    Napoleon wanted to force Russia into the blockade of the United Kingdom. The war resulted in a large number of casualties and a decisive Russian victory.

    The first time Napoleon was distinctly defeated by Russia, Austria, Prussia, and Sweden armies led by Tsar Alexander. The defeat resulted in the destruction of French powers in Europe.

    The period between Napoleon’s return from exile and the second restoration of King Louis XVII. Brought to an end at Waterloo, it was the final event in Napoleon’s domination.
