  • Italian Campaign 🟢

    It was during the Italian Campaign when Napoleon showed his military expertise. Bonaparte displayed his ability to break down a large enemy into two and take them on one at a time. He made massive gains into Austria as well and forced the Austrians to sign for peace towards France. 🟢
  • Egyptian Campaign 🔴

    Egyptian Campaign 🔴
    Bonaparte sought out to conquer Egypt, but in doing so he horribly failed. Napoleon in an act to save his own skin fled to France without his men and told fabricated stories to the French people and succeeded in covering up the truth for a while. 🔴
  • Consulate 🟢

    Consulate 🟢
    The Directory which had been running France did not achieve any real progress after the revolution. Seeing that there was time for change Napoleon staged an overthrow of the government, and was successful. He worked efficiently pushing France towards a more modern society. 🟢

    After the revolution, the French economy was in a tragic state. To rectify the huge error Napoleon set up the Banque de France seeing strides of success made in the economy. 🟢
  • Concordat of 1801 🟢

    Concordat of 1801 🟢
    As a way to make up for offending the Catholic church after the revolution, Napoleon signed a deal with Pope Pius VII to repair relations with the church. Bonaparte skillfully made sure he still has most of the power creating rules such as him having the ability to select bishops. 🟢
  • Consul for Life 🟢

    Napoleon had seen great successes after becoming the lead consul after the overthrow of the Directory. At this point he had gained the favor of the French people leading to him naming himself "First Consul for Life". 🟢

    The Napoleonic Code was a set of laws that set France on the right track following the turmoil after the revolution. The code made life better for the French people such as when it eliminated the feudal system. 🟡
  • Declared Self Emperor 🟢

    Bonaparte was unsatisfied with the title of "First Consul for Life", so he upgraded his title to "Emperor". It is also noted that Napoleon snatched the crown at the Norte Dame during the ceremony as a way to show nobody is above him. 🟢

    This was a significant loss to the Spanish navy that would ensure Britain's power of the waters making an invasion of England impossible. Napoleon often claimed that the English Channel was keeping the Brits safe from invasion since they were the masters of the sea while France were the masters of land. 🔴

    As Napoleon redrew the map of Europe he boldly excluded the "Holy Roman Empire", and made leaders of countries such as Austria, Prussia, and Russia to sign deals with him claiming more territory for France. 🟢
  • Continental System 🟡

    The Continental System was formed to enforce less trade with the British from other European countries since Bonaparte could not invade them. Ultimately though the plan was not a major success due to Britain's strong navy. 🟡
  • Resistance in Spain 🔴

    Napoleon was not satisfied with how the Spanish monarchy was functioning so in an effort to control them his army invaded the country. Bonaparte's brother would become king of Spain, but this would stir up feelings of resentment against the French. Luckily, for the Spanish Britain had shown up to liberate the peninsula and liberate them they did! 🔴
  • Invasion of Russia 🔴

    Napoleon discovered that Russia were not being loyal to the Continental System, so in a fit of rage Bonaparte felt the need to invade Russia with a large sum of men and horses. The Russians knew Napoleon's strategy when it came to warfare, He liked to move men fast and speed was the name of the game, so the Russians deployed the scorched earth method giving the French army nothing to live off of making them hungry. Then the winter came forcing the French to retreat from Moscow. 🔴
  • Battle of Nations at Leipzig 🔴

    Battle of Nations at Leipzig 🔴
    The French army was pinned from all sides and were fighting multiple nations including Russia, Prussia, Sweden, and Austria. With victory seeming impossible at this point it was clear the French should retreat, so they did. 🔴
  • Abdication 🔴

    Starting Napoleon's downfall, his first abdication resulted in him being sent to Elba after his loss in Russia resulting in him losing a large army. He then returned to France after his first abdication and in under a year he found himself abdicating the throne again and receiving a harsher punishment of being sent to a far off island called St. Helena. 🔴
  • Hundred Days 🔴

    Hundred Days 🔴
    When Napoleon returned from exile in Elba soldiers met him with exuberance allowing Bonaparte to walk into Paris and take over again. This enraged the surrounding countries giving them the impetus to take on France. Napoleon in an effort to stop the countries from convening in Waterloo and prepping their forces, he launched an attack. Sadly, this attack did not work out in Bonaparte's favor resulting in the Bourbon family regaining power and Napoleon taken to a far off island called St. Helena🔴
  • Waterloo 🔴

    Waterloo 🔴
    Unfortunately, Bonaparte's last battle would be fought in Waterloo, Belgium. This was a large defeat resulting in him losing his army and forced into abdicating the throne. As punishment from returning from Elba he was sent to a far distant island called St. Helena in the Atlantic Ocean. 🔴
