    the Treaty of Amies was signed in Amiens, France and was signed by Britain, France, Spain, and the Batavian Republic the treaty achieved peace for 14 months during the Napoleonic wars. The treaty did ignore some of the problems that divide France and Britain such as what was to happen with the Began Provinces, savoy and switzerland. It also did not cover the fact that Napoleon did not want French controlled areas to trade with Britain.

    The Napoleonic Code abolished over 300 different legal systems throughout france. The code also recognized the principle of equality before the law for all citizens. The code was also able to safeguarded the right to choose your own profession and abolished feudalism.

    By 1805 Napoleon's grand army had defeated the Austrian Netherlands and parts of Italy. Napoleons had also forced the leaders of Austria, Prussia, and Russia to sign treaties of peace. All of this success enabled Napoleon to build the largest empire since the romans. the only thing left to do was to beat the great navel Feet or Britain.

    Napoleon defeated Austria in its war of liberation. An agreement was then signed at the Schloss Schönbrunn in Vienna. Austria ended up losing about 32,000 square miles of land which held about 3,500,000 people. In the treaty Austria also agreed to reduce its army to 150,000 men and stop trading with Britain.
