    When Napoleon Bonaparte became The leader of France many people believed that it was the end of the French Revolution. No blood was shedded in the Coup D´etat. They overthrew the French Directory and replaced it with the French Consulate. Many people in France thought it was a great move and it was good for France.

    The Napoleonic Code gave France its first coherent set of laws concerning property, individual rights, family, and colonial affairs. It had several branches of law including criminal and commercial law, and categories of property and family.

    The Concordat of 1801 was and agreement between Napoleon Bonaparte and Pope Pius VII. It was an agreement stating that the Roman Catholic Church was going to be the majority church of France.

    Napoleon Bonaparte signed the Louisiana Purchase to the United States of America. France gave the land to the United States because France needed the money for a war that was going to happen with Great Britain.

    Napoleon crowned himself Emperor in the Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris. This was important because it showed to the citizens of France that he was there to take control of the problems of France and help defeat other countries in Europe.

    The Continental System was a blockade designed by Napoleon to destroy Great Britain through the destuction of British Commerce. It stated that French Allies were not to trade with the British. It hurt English Industries and created unenployment in England.

    Napoleon pushed the French Army rapidly through Western Russia. The Russians retreated from the fight for 2 months. They kept on moving farther and farther until there was no where left to go. The Russians burned their own farm fields and villages so the French couldn´t eat. When the French finally caught the Russians there was the bloodiest battle fought in the Napoleonic Wars. 250,000 soldiers died.
