Napoleon Bonaparte was born on the 15 August 1759 in Ajaccio which is in Corsica. His parents are Letizia Bonaparte and Carlo Bonaparte. At this time Carlo Bonaparte was much known in the city and the house he was born in the Casa Bonaparte which is know a museum . Napoleon was born French but he was very close from being Italian because Corsica was only sold to France few months before Napoleon’s birth. -
Napoleon went to school in Corsica for only a little amount of time because he left Corsica to go to France so he could learn French better. In France, in Autun he did not that much years of school. In France, he was already directing the people when he was doing battles with snow ! When he grew up, he went to the military school of Brienne. When he was about to get in the army, he got kicked out because he had cartoon shoes but the brother of Robespierre helped him get a job back in the army. -
Napoleon was know captain in the French army and he was in the artillery. He was not known at all but then in this battle he became very famous. He guided his man with is strategies the whole battle and is corp was called ‘‘ the unscarred corp ’’ he was the best captain and really short amount of time, he went from capitain to general !!! In one battle he skipped 4 grades !! Napoleon was soon given a little army to go and attack Italy. -
At that time the French army was very poor but then Napoleon told them he would get them to the place they need. He had gotten a small army and he had to conquer Italy. On the April 2 1796, he lead his troops towards Italy. He had 38 000 soldiers against 38 000 Austrians and 25 000 Piedmontese. His plan was to separate them and attack one by one. Some of his battles are : Lodi,Rivoli,Castiglione and Arcole. Napoleon won successfully the Italian campaign and he stool a lot of goods for France. -
The government was scared about Napoleon taking the power so they told him to go conquer Egypt to block the British forces. At his first battle he was against the Mamelouks, a army that lived in Egypt. His expedition was to learn more about Egypt and he had brought with him scientists, and people to draw stuff. They saw a lot of new things but the French marine had been sank by the British forces and he went to Palestine but his soldiers go the Peste and his soldiers died so he went to France. -
On the November 10 1799 he overthrew the directory with some soldiers and he named himself first consul. Napoleon had most of the power but he wanted to get even more power so he started wanting to be a emperor. At his coronation on the December 2 1802 he putted the crown on himself when the pope was suppose to put it for him. His mother didn’t come at the coronation and she was saying that it was too high for him to be an emperor . He also putted the crown on his wife, Josephine. -
Napoleon attacked Austria at Austerlitz on the 2 December 1805. He won with 68 000 soldiers against 90 000 Russians and Austrians. Napoleon ran down a big hill and the enemy went on it. The enemy went down at the right side to attack the village and since Davout had reinforcements, they had to bring most of there soldiers down the hill and then Soult with Murat went with the soldiers that were hidden in the forest on the hill and pushed the enemy on the ice lake where they died. -
Napoleon tried invading Russia but in 1813 and 1814 it was winter. The soldiers were cold and when they had to cross the Berezina river most of the soldiers died. But Napoleon still wanted to go further on so he did but then he had to go back to France because the Russians were burning everything and Poland didn’t give them enough. They had to cross the Berezina again and while going back to France he had even more difficulty. It was a failure for this campaign and it was close to his end. -
Napoleon didn’t have any army so he surrendered and said bye to his Imperial Gard. He was sent to Elbe but then old soldiers from his Gard toke a boat and got him to the port of Antibes in south France. He stayed in France for 100 days before Waterloo in 1815 where the English squares had been very good. He is sent to Saint-Helene where he stayed for the rest of his life and were he made one of his general write a book (but napoleon said the stuff to write) but he was still known as an emperor. -
Napoleon died on the 5 may 1821 at the island of Saint-Helene in the Atlantic Ocean. They are two possibility: one is that he died from cancer and another one is that at that time they gave a small amount of poison and maybe the English guards putted too much poison on purpose. But however we still found poison in Napoleon’s body and we know that he did have cancer. He died at the age of 52. He also had made knew schools and benefits for people. Louis 18 toke Napoleon’s place as a king.
