    My childhood
My name is Curtis Jig. I was born in Omagh in Tyrone county, Ireland. I was born secind son of my parents. My brother was always jealous of me because i got all the attention. Our country was holding certain rules and laws my mom amd dad did not like. We couldn't practice our religion and customs, so we moved. I'm writing this autobiography so everyone knows what a land of oppurtunity america is.

    Leaving home.
We packed our things and headed for the port. When we got to the front of the line we had to be inspected. After we were checked my father payed for the tickets and we boarded. There were almost a million people on that ship. The bad thing was i was leaving all my friends and I didn't know how to speak english. The good thing was that America was a land of triumph and destiny that i could take to my own benefits. The boat's horn went of and we started sailing.
  • Arrival!

    Arrival!
I woke up my mother with an urge of excitement. "Mommy look a giant shiny lady." She seemed to be overly happy about it because she woke up everyone on the ship. Soon we were back on land in a place called ellis island. We had to have a doctor examination and mom and dad had to take a literacy test. We then met our cousins and left for philidelphia. this was the start of a new life.

Today my dad got a job working on a railroad that streches across the country. He doesn't gt payed much though. Atleast there are other irish people to share stories with. My mom got a job at a factory making clothes. She gets payed a little more than dad. It keeps food on the table though. My older brother started school this year as well, He says it is challenging.

Today I started school. By now i know most english but my teacher is helping me with the complicated words. I made two friends so far. They are both irish My brother said school was hard but i think it is easy. Right now we are working on math. My teacher is very nice. She helps any one who is having trouble. I think school is fun and i get to go for 12 more years.

    My job
I am finnally old enough to get a job. I started working to build buildings and structures. It is highly dangerous. I heard stories about people who fell to their death. It does not as much as other jobs but I can survive. My parents don't agree with it though. They thin it is to risky and it is.
