  • Space shuttle Atlantis last mission

    Space shuttle Atlantis last mission
The space shuttle Atlantis took its historic last mission on this day, making it the space shuttle with the most missions, 33. I had the opportunity to see the real shuttle at the Kennedy Space Center, and it was amazing to see a real piece of history.
  • Apocalypse Panic

    Apocalypse Panic
In 2012 the Mayan calendar was ending. People thought the world was going to end on December 21. Everyone had a different theory to how it would end, and a movie even came out. I remember seeing it in the news and hearing about it at school. Back then, I thought it wasn't true in the least bit, and that we'd all be fine once December 21 rolled around.
  • Voyager 1 leaves the solar system

Voyager 1 leaves the solar system
Voyager 1, a space probe, leaves the solar system and becomes the first man-made interstellar object. I remember hearing about this from my parents and thinking how amazing it was that something humanity created could travel so far, and still have contact with us. It inspired me on the career path I have chosen today.
  • Mom graduates from culinary school

    Mom graduates from culinary school
I remember when my mom graduated from culinary school. It was something she had worked towards for a long time, and I was very proud of her. It had been her dream to become certified and be able to work in the field she loves. She's a very good cook and she bakes and cooks all of the time, and I've learned a lot from her. I'm a good cook myself, and I believe I've taken that after her.
  • Disney Birthday Vacation

    Disney Birthday Vacation
This is the second time I had been to Disney, but the first time I was a little kid and hardly remembered it. This trip was for my 14th birthday. We visited all the parks, but my favourite was Epcot. I made my parents go back there on our last day because it was my favourite park. On my birthday we had dinner in England, and the servers there signed a menu for me and put where they were from. I thought this was the coolest thing because England was one of my favourite counties.
  • Gay marriage legalized

    Gay marriage legalized
On this day, same sex marriage is legalized in the United States. It had already been previously legalized in many other countries, but the United States took longer with the process. I remember seeing it in the news and my parents talking about it, but it didn't affect me much at the time. Now that I'm older and I've met people and made friends who are affected by this, it's something that is very important to me.
  • London Vacation

    London Vacation
Our family spent a few days in London, then a day in Wales and a few days in Ireland. This is a photo we took at Trafalgar square, where the famous National Gallery is. I got to see Vincent van Gogh's paintings, who is one of my favourite classical painters.
  • Car almost burns

    Car almost burns
On this day we were at Kohl's shopping when there was an announcement that someone's car was burning in the parking lot, and the store wasn't allowing people to leave the building. We went to the front of the store to see what was happening, and a young man's car was on fire in the parking lot. It was right next to our car, but the only damage to our car was the headlight had melted. Two others cars were totaled in the accident. I remember feeling really shocked by the whole thing.
  • Florida Vacation

    Florida Vacation
My family took a trip to Florida to go to Universal Studios, Disney and the Kennedy Space Center. It was the third time I've been to Disney, although I don't remember the first. I had never been to Universal before and the experience was amazing. I also got to go to the Kennedy Space Center, which was incredible. They gave a bus tour of the complex, including their vehicle assembly building.
  • Solar Eclipse

    Solar Eclipse
I remember when the solar eclipse was a huge deal. Advertisers were using it, and everyone was talking about it. I thought it was incredible and special event, but I was too paranoid to go out and look at it. I stayed inside with my dog the whole time because I didn't want to get eye damage.
