I was born
I was born on October 11, 1989 in North Vancouver. I was my parents first child and the first grandchild on my dad's side.
I was also the first baby to be born within my dad's group of friends. I grew up with my dad's 3 best friends always around, and I now proudly call them my Uncles. I was the only baby around until my sister was born in February 1992, followed by my brother in December 1993. -
Started School at Larson Elementary
I attended kindergarten and grade one at Larson Elementary in North Vancouver. -
Moved to Squamish
My family packed up and moved from North Vancouver to Squamish. -
Started School at Garibaldi Highlands Elementary
I started at this school in grade two and stayed here through grade seven. During this time is when I met the most influential teacher I had ever had. Her name is Mrs.Newell. She was everything I wanted to be. She is the reason I wanted to become a teacher. Also during this time, my mom had a dayhome. I remember coming home from school and "teaching" everything I had learned that day to all the kids in my moms care. I even had my own easel set up to be my chalkboard. -
Started School at Don Ross Secondary School
I went to Don Ross for grades eight, nine and ten. These were probably the worst years of my schooling. I was a terrible student, this is where I really started failing classes and not caring about school at all anymore. I did not have any teachers that stood out to me as being influential or great. I just wanted to get through those years as quickly as possible. -
Started School at Howe Sound Secondary School
I spend my last two years at Howe Sound. I enjoyed my time here much more than the previous school. I made new and better friends. A few remain my good friends to this day. The best thing I was able to do at this school was take the work experience program. This program allowed me to feel out future careers. I decided I wanted to go back to my elementary school to try out teaching. I was able to work in my favorite teachers classroom. This really solidified my decision to become a teacher. -
Moved to Red Deer, Alberta
I moved to Red Deer to go to school at Red Deer College to take the Early Learning and Child Care Program -
Attended Red Deer College
After deciding I needed a change of scenery and moving to Red Deer, I started taking the Early Learning and Child Care Program at RDC. I completed two years of the program, however I was a few credits shy of finishing. I should have stuck with it to finish the program, but I decided this program was not going to get me to where I truly wanted to be, which of course was teaching in a classroom. -
Started Working as an Educational Assistant
I started working as an Educational Assistant for Red Deer Public School District at GH Dawe in a Pre-Kindergarten class. I spend just about 3 years at this school. I learned so much during this time. If it was not for this position I would not have decided to go back to school to get my Teaching Degree. -
Started at Red Deer College Again
I decided to go back to school and complete my Teaching Degree. I began taking classes to earn the credits before I could apply to the Middle Years Program. I took many valuable classes during this time. -
Got Married
After meeting my husband in 2009, we got engaged in 2013. We spent almost 3 years planning our wedding. We finally got married on September 10, 2016. It was the greatest day. All of our friends and family gathered together in Red Deer to watch us say our vows. -
Our First Baby
On September 17th 2018 we found out we were expecting our first baby! This baby is due on May 29th 2019!
